6th Grade M-Step\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

6th graders will begin M-Step testing for ELA<\/strong> on Tuesday, May 1 during their 2nd hour block!<\/strong>\u00a0 Best of luck to you and always remember to read the directions, questions and responses 2-3 times<\/strong><\/em> before making a response.\u00a0 There are a few tips I would like to share in addition to the latter.\u00a0 Please encourage your child to do their BEST, have a good night’s sleep, and remember to take 2-3 deep breaths and think positive thoughts. Please review some additional tips below that our school website shared with you a few weeks earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
Before Test Tips<\/b><\/td>\nDuring Test Tips<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  • Have a positive attitude. \u00a0Tell yourself, \u201cI will do my best on this test.\u201d<\/li>\n
  • Go to sleep at a reasonable time to get a good night\u2019s rest the night before the test.<\/li>\n
  • Wake up early enough to avoid rushing to get ready for school.<\/li>\n
  • Eat a healthy breakfast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

  • Relax, take a deep breath, and think positive thoughts, \u201cI am going to do well.\u201d<\/li>\n
  • Listen carefully to directions.<\/li>\n
  • Ready each question carefully. \u00a0Identify key words. Think about what the question is really asking.<\/li>\n
  • Read the entire question and all the answer choices.<\/li>\n
  • Apply strategies that you learned in class to figure out the answer. \u00a0Pick the best answer.<\/li>\n
  • Recheck answer before moving on to the next question.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    In science this week:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Students will present their “Traits Expert” project as a team.<\/li>\n
    • We will continue to investigate reproductive strategies of different organisms.<\/li>\n
    • We will then find out like ecologists, what are the advantages and disadvantages of sexual and asexual reproduction.<\/li>\n
    • Students will use the data they compiled from their articles and their peers to create an ERC to answer the essential question above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
