{"id":464,"date":"2016-11-20T21:46:55","date_gmt":"2016-11-21T02:46:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/savagea\/?p=464"},"modified":"2016-11-20T22:15:04","modified_gmt":"2016-11-21T03:15:04","slug":"week-of-november-21-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/savagea\/2016\/11\/20\/week-of-november-21-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of November 21, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Even though this is a short week for science, students have been working very hard the past week to research their Michigan ecosystems and create a poster of data showing its food web, table data representing the different organisms in their ecosystem and a graphical representation of it. \u00a0I am proud of their hard work and perseverance they carried through to work together as a team and complete this research project. \u00a0This was definitely a complicated project, with high cognitive levels of thinking, but they all did well and I am looking forward to listening to their research outcome this week.<\/p>\n<p>Another project students worked diligently on is their home ecosystem project which are due on Monday for A-Day students and on Tuesday for B-Day students. \u00a0We will have an open gallery in the 6th grade science classroom and students will proudly display their hard work and effort at home and in class for all to learn and admire.<\/p>\n<p>Students last week showed their curiosity while learning about biodiversity. \u00a0Mike and Wesley took a walk along Ford Field park and brought back owls treasures from a tree and they shared it with the class. \u00a0Emily is looking forward to share her research she did about invasive species which is our upcoming topic after break and her recent biodiversity project. \u00a0There are many more success stories that are happening every day and I am super proud of them all.<\/p>\n<p>I am truly proud of EVERY student for pushing themselves further and learning how to work together as a team.<\/p>\n<p>I am looking forward to more research-based projects that we will have in the future and a successful step towards our new science standards (NGSS).<\/p>\n<p>Have a safe and memorable Thanksgiving Break and I cannot tell you how thankful I am for such a wonderful group of students and supportive parents at O.L.
