{"id":1260,"date":"2020-01-12T15:52:46","date_gmt":"2020-01-12T20:52:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/savagea\/?p=1260"},"modified":"2020-01-12T15:52:58","modified_gmt":"2020-01-12T20:52:58","slug":"january-13-to-january-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/savagea\/2020\/01\/12\/january-13-to-january-17\/","title":{"rendered":"January 13 to January 17"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last week in Science :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Students worked with their team members to update their Present Day Lot Poster (<strong><em>summative<\/em><\/strong>), using the Unit 6.1 Checklist and feedback I provided from each lesson.  <\/li><li>Students were assigned C.E.R.E.R.C writing assignment (<strong><em>summative<\/em><\/strong>) to explain and summarize their learning and to answer the unit question:<ul><li>How does human development affect the way water moves in our community. <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>B-Day students were introduced to Lesson 7&#8217;s challenge, as they worked in teams of 4 to build a paper tower similar to the Eiffel Tower.  A-Day students will complete this challenge on Monday.  (Students, please remember to have your <em><strong>lab license<\/strong><\/em> with you to participate on lab days).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This week in Science:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Students will be collaborating as a team to answer the new Essential Question&#8230;.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6.1.7 <strong>Lesson Question:<\/strong> <\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>How can we make sure we have a good solution to a problem?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gotta Have Checklist (6.1.7):<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>How criteria and constraints are related to each other and the solution.<\/li><li>How well defined criteria and constraints ensure a successful solution.\u00a0<\/li><li>How are the individuals\u2019 or groups\u2019 needs and wants met by the solution.<\/li><li>How scientific issues are relevant for defining a problem and criteria and constraints.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>6.1.7 <strong>Summary Table<\/strong> (<strong><em>formative<\/em><\/strong>) is posted on Google Classroom and students will be given time to reflect on it independently in class and complete unfinished sections as homework.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> 6th graders will begin their Winter NWEA assessment on Friday 1\/17\/2020 and continue the following week.
