{"id":1098,"date":"2019-02-18T20:46:47","date_gmt":"2019-02-19T01:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/savagea\/?p=1098"},"modified":"2019-02-18T20:46:47","modified_gmt":"2019-02-19T01:46:47","slug":"week-24-february-19th-to-22nd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/savagea\/2019\/02\/18\/week-24-february-19th-to-22nd\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 24: February 19th to 22nd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Welcome Back<\/strong>!\u00a0 I hope you had a wonderful and restful Mid-Winter Break .<\/p>\n<p>Last week, we completed our inquiry station labs regarding heat transfer using the terms : Conduction, convection and radiation.\u00a0 Students also found out who their home project partner will be.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This week:\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.homeinsulations.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/home-insulation-guide-1024x1024.jpg\" width=\"284\" height=\"284\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We will review the terms : conduction, convection and radiation and how heat transfers through each with the lecture slides.<\/li>\n<li>We will dig deeper into conductors and insulators, so that students can begin brainstorming about their Energy Efficient Home. This will be accomplished as we:\n<ul>\n<li>Determine, then test 3 insulating materials students and their project partner identify as the best insulators for winter weather.\n<ul>\n<li>Students will collect then graph their data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Build a well insulated lunchbox to prevent an ice cube from melting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Lastly, students who completed their African American Scientist project, will present to the class what they learned about that scientist.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/c8.alamy.com\/comp\/CXBG5W\/two-african-american-scientists-working-in-lab-together-CXBG5W.jpg\" width=\"277\" height=\"204\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Have a great week !<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Savage<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome Back!\u00a0 I hope you had a wonderful and restful Mid-Winter Break .
