{"id":1052,"date":"2018-10-28T16:28:13","date_gmt":"2018-10-28T20:28:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/savagea\/?p=1052"},"modified":"2018-10-28T16:28:13","modified_gmt":"2018-10-28T20:28:13","slug":"week-10-october-29-to-november-2-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/savagea\/2018\/10\/28\/week-10-october-29-to-november-2-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 10: October 29 to November 2, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week,\u00a0 we reviewed &#8220;<strong>Body Systems<\/strong>&#8221; through bellwork class discussions and started our new learning about the <strong>Cell Theory<\/strong> and the 5<strong> scientists<\/strong> involved.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft \" src=\"https:\/\/memegenerator.net\/img\/instances\/400x\/68919377.jpg\" width=\"253\" height=\"247\" \/>I have updated my gradebook this weekend after I reviewed and graded the following<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;<strong>Body Systems Projec<\/strong>t-(50 points)Summative Grade&#8221; and<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<strong>Flip Grid Video<\/strong> for Body Systems (10 points)-Formative Grade&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students who didn&#8217;t complete or submit either assignment received a notification from me on <strong>Google Classroom<\/strong>.\u00a0 Please make sure they share their current grade and assignments in Science through Student Connect.\u00a0 If you need to have direct access to your child&#8217;s gradebook, please make sure you have access to <strong>&#8220;Parent Connect<\/strong>&#8220;.\u00a0 The main office is able to help you with <em>Parent Connect<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This week in Science:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We will continue our conversation on the Cell Theory and dig deeper to learn about the 5 scientist who took part.<\/li>\n<li>We will further discuss about cells as we focus on <strong>prokaryotes<\/strong> such as bacteria and\u00a0 viruses that are helpful and harmful to our body.<\/li>\n<li>Students will receive a study guide on Body Systems &amp; Cell Theory in preparation of the test.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cell Theory &amp; Body Systems test<\/strong> is scheduled for <em>Thursday (A-Day) &amp; Friday (B-Day)\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.methacton.org\/cms\/lib\/PA01000176\/Centricity\/Domain\/134\/duedates1.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"140\" \/>Quarter 1 gradebook closes this <strong>Friday<\/strong>.\u00a0 Any late assignments for <strong>Q1<\/strong> are accepted until Friday 11\/2 for partial credit.\u00a0 Review my syllabus and procedures for clarification.<\/p>\n<p>The last assignment for this marking period (<em><strong>Q1<\/strong><\/em>) is <strong>FlipGrid Video of Body Systems.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We will have locker cleanout on Thursday for this quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Please read the message below from Ms. Jebril regarding <em><strong>Wednesday 10\/31 and costumes:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This is a reminder that\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"il\" style=\"color: #000000;\">Halloween<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0costumes, of any kind, are NOT permitted at O.L.Smith on\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"il\" style=\"color: #000000;\">Halloween<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Day, Wednesday, October 31st.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Students should not bring masks, make-up or hair products to school. Anyone found with these items will have them confiscated.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Gum and candy are not permitted in the building, as usual. Please save your trick-or treating for the evening festivities.\u00a0<\/em><em>Students may wear orange and black but please follow the school dress code, outlined in the student handbook sent home during the summer.
