Objective<\/strong>: \u00a0I can score my classmates’ samples of Body Paragraph #2 by consulting with my elbow partner and choosing key words from the argumentative rubric for the components of “Organization,” “Evidence,” “Reasoning,” and “Conventions” that match each sample. \u00a0I can apply what I’ve learned through this process to my rewrites.<\/p>\n

BW<\/strong>: \u00a0With a marker, highlight one or two words that stand out for the 4 levels of each of these components in your Argumentative Rubric: \u00a0“Organization,” “Evidence,” “Reasoning,” and “Conventions.”<\/p>\n

Activities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

  1. Think Pair\/Share: \u00a0On the handouts of Student Samples A, B, and C, give a score for each component. \u00a0i.e. O=2, E=2, R=1, and C=1.<\/li>\n
  2. Share Out: \u00a0Why did Sample “A” score an E-2? \u00a0Why did “C” score an R=3? \u00a0How is context used in Sample C? \u00a0How is organization used in Sample B? etc.<\/li>\n
  3. Independent Study: \u00a0Rewrite Body Paragraph 1 and 2 as time permits. \u00a02nd hour must complete Body Paragraph 2 first.<\/li>\n
  4. Submission<\/strong>: \u00a0All work must be placed in your folders and returned. \u00a0None is to leave the class.<\/li>\n
  5. Reminder<\/strong>: \u00a0Attend tomorrow’s tutoring session for this essay tomorrow after school between 2:15 and 3:15 if possible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
