{"id":2396,"date":"2017-11-17T04:58:16","date_gmt":"2017-11-17T09:58:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sapienp\/?p=2396"},"modified":"2017-11-17T05:37:50","modified_gmt":"2017-11-17T10:37:50","slug":"2396","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sapienp\/2017\/11\/17\/2396\/","title":{"rendered":"November 17, 2107"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Objective<\/strong>:\u00a0 I can actively participate in an evidenced-based discussion by speaking and\/or writing evidence to support my or others&#8217; answers to an essential question.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Language<\/strong>:\u00a0 I can access the quality of my participation by using the sentence stems:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Evidence that I achieve my goal is&#8230;&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;To prepare for our next seminar I will&#8230;&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>BW<\/strong>:\u00a0 Think\/Write:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Question<\/strong>:\u00a0 Has the use of cellphones in our school diminished the ability for substantial learning to occur?<\/p>\n<p><strong>BW Task<\/strong>:\u00a0 Find 2 pieces of evidence(1 for and 1 against) and write them down in your notebook. \u00a0Mark the one for as +, and the one against as -.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Activities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0Indpendent Study:\u00a0 Read the first skill in the &#8220;Exemplary&#8221; Column for &#8220;Analysis,&#8221; &#8220;Discussion,&#8221; and &#8220;Civility&#8221; of the Socratic Seminar Rubric.\u00a0 Notice the changes by the &#8220;Developing&#8221; Column.<\/li>\n<li>Independent Study:\u00a0 Select one of the three Focus Skills and write it as &#8220;my goal&#8221; in the appropriate space.<\/li>\n<li>Video:\u00a0 As you view\u00a0<em>Socratic Seminar in Action<\/em>, list at least one piece of evidence for each of the three Focus Skills.<\/li>\n<li>Share Out:\u00a0 What did you notice?<\/li>\n<li>Socratic Discussion:\u00a0 As speakers in the inner circle make their points to agree and disagree, the outer circle students will mark evidence of the three Focus Skills for their respective speakers.<\/li>\n<li>Halftime Feedback:\u00a0 Outer Circle students will share their constructive criticism with the speakers.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Independent Study:\u00a0 Students will ensure that they complete the line of &#8220;evidence that I achieved my goal&#8221; on the back of the Socratic Seminar Rubric.<\/li>\n<li>Debrief: \u00a0Some speakers will share out: \u00a0Accomplishments?
