Activities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0Teacher models corrections: \u00a0non-essential clauses and commas.<\/li>\n
  2. Promethean Board: \u00a0Whole class will provide a consensus of MI in Chunk #3 of the “exercise” AOW.<\/li>\n
  3. Share Out: \u00a0How does the writer support this main idea? \u00a0Why is it important for him to share all of these details about the positive effects of exercise? Are these details important enough to be used in a summary? \u00a0How can we summarize them? Do you see any patterns in the list? \u00a0Can we break up the list into two categories?<\/li>\n
  4. Promethean Board: \u00a0The whole class will write a summary statement through consensus.<\/li>\n
  5. Independent Study: \u00a0Students will utilize the three steps(underlining the main idea, highlighting key terms, and writing a summary statement) for Chunk #4.<\/li>\n
  6. If time allows, each student will identify Metzi’s claim statement and restate it for the topic sentence of his\/her summary.<\/li>\n
  7. 2nd and 3rd Hours: \u00a0SRI Testing, SSR, and Word Wall Activities.<\/li>\n
