Objective<\/strong>: \u00a0I can use a variety of strategies to fix roadblocks as I read.<\/p>\n

BW<\/strong>: \u00a0Read the 4th box in the “solving roadblocks” component(2nd layer) of the reading comprehension rubric and identify 2 or 3 important words and write them down in your spiral notebook with today’s date.<\/p>\n

Activities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0Share Out: What does “context clues” mean? \u00a0What does “marks” mean? etc.<\/li>\n
  2. Notebook Work: \u00a0Write “Strategies for Solving Roadblocks” and make a list independently for two minutes.<\/li>\n
  3. Share Out: \u00a0At board, teacher will write down two strategies.<\/li>\n
  4. Walk Around: \u00a0Students will meet a new friend and find one new strategy.<\/li>\n
  5. Share Out: \u00a0Teacher writes at the board more strategies to compile a list.<\/li>\n
  6. Application: On a four-fold leaf in the spiral, students will list these titles: \u00a0Roadblock, Strategy, Clue, Guess.<\/li>\n
  7. Independent: \u00a0Students will use the 4-fold table to solve the roadblock for “moderate intensity” from the AOW of the week about exercise.<\/li>\n
  8. Share Out: \u00a0A random student will explain how he\/she solved the roadblock. \u00a0Students will discuss why the literal definition does not apply to the text like the working definition presented by the author himself.<\/li>\n
  9. Share Out: \u00a0Thumbs-up responses for whether or not the objective(s) of the class were accomplished.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
