BW<\/strong>: \u00a0View the video about Socratic Circles and identify 3 challenges and write them in the big space on your worksheet.<\/p>\n

Activities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0Read the portion of the worksheet that lists “strengths” or ideal behaviors for a Socratic Circle.<\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0Complete your list of 3 challenges.<\/li>\n
  3. \u00a0Share Out: \u00a0At the T-Chart on the board, teacher will list challenges in the left column and enlist students to share possible supports.<\/li>\n
  4. Each student will write his\/her position statement along with a reason or two atop the worksheet.<\/li>\n
  5. Mentors meet coaches: \u00a0Pairs will discuss their positions\/reasons.<\/li>\n
  6. Begin discussion: \u00a0Remember, it’s a conversation, not necessarily a debate.<\/li>\n
  7. Halftime: \u00a0Mentor\/Coaches share questions and strategies.<\/li>\n
  8. Each student will complete the portion about whether or not today’s activity affected his\/her position.<\/li>\n
  9. Share Out: \u00a0Did anyone waver or even change your position? \u00a0Why or why not?<\/li>\n
  10. Complete the next two steps of the worksheet by rereading the “strengths” or ideal behaviors that were checked off and assess whether or not activity was effective in a short paragraph.<\/li>\n
