BW<\/span>: \u00a0Skim-read the AOW that most closely relates to your position for the argumentative essay. \u00a0Identify a quote that best illustrates your position and write it in your spiral.<\/p>\n

Activities<\/span>:<\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0Share Out: \u00a0Read some aloud. \u00a0Discuss quote\/connections.<\/li>\n
  2. Think Pair\/Share: \u00a0Read aloud the sample introductory paragraph to your neighbor. \u00a0Underline the claim. \u00a0Box the quote\/evidence. \u00a0And circle the reasoning.<\/li>\n
  3. Share Out: \u00a0What is the claim? \u00a0What is the purpose of the first sentence of reasoning? \u00a0What is the purpose of the second sentence of reasoning? etc.<\/li>\n
  4. On a separate paper, each student will write the quote selected from his\/her bellwork.<\/li>\n
  5. Each student will write his\/her introduction. \u00a0Follow the pattern of the Essay Organizer: Quote, Explanation, Counter, and Claim.<\/li>\n
  6. Think Pair\/Share: \u00a0Each neighbor will peer edit the introduction with a marker. \u00a0Look closely at the reasoning. \u00a0Does it make a connection to the claim like the exemplar?<\/li>\n
  7. Reminder<\/span>: \u00a0Mr. Opferman and Mr. Sapienza are available today and before school on Thursday at 6:30 am. \u00a0Final drafts of the introduction and three supporting paragraphs should be completed ten minutes before the end of class on Thursday.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
