Essentially, they are containers (bins) filled with different substances for a tactile play.  They help with sensory exploration through play, development of practical skills (pouring, filling, scooping), focus\/attending, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Sensory Bin Assembly<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Container\/Bin: <\/strong>Get creative. Use any container that is deep\/large enough to allow for exploration without the contents spilling every where. Examples<ul><li>Tupperware <\/li><li>Storage container (used for clothes or any household item)<\/li><li>Shoe box<\/li><li>Baking dish<\/li><li>Cardboard box <\/li><li>Pot<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Fill with sensory materials: <\/strong>Stick to one material for each bin you use. Examples: <ul><li>Beans<\/li><li>Rice <\/li><li>Pasta<\/li><li>Sand<\/li><li>Water<\/li><li>Birdseed<\/li><li>Oatmeal<\/li><li>Coffee beans <\/li><li>Shredded paper <\/li><li>Shaving cream <\/li><li>Aquarium rocks <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Add items of interest: <\/strong>Make it a theme or pick random items. Examples:<ul><li>Toy cars\/animals\/dolls<\/li><li>Cotton balls <\/li><li>Ribbons<\/li><li>Magnetic letters<\/li><li>Buttons<\/li><li>Pom poms<\/li><li>Paper clips<\/li><li>Gems <\/li><li>Shells<\/li><li>Stones<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Add tools\/instruments: <\/strong>Use these tools to manipulate the sensory items in the bin. This helps with exploration and fine motor skills.
