{"id":285,"date":"2017-09-05T15:45:03","date_gmt":"2017-09-05T19:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sabraham\/?p=285"},"modified":"2017-09-05T15:45:03","modified_gmt":"2017-09-05T19:45:03","slug":"week-of-sept-5th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sabraham\/2017\/09\/05\/week-of-sept-5th\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of Sept. 5th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WELCOME BACK!<\/p>\n<p>I am very excited for the new school year. \u00a0 Please find the parent letter attached below.. \u00a0Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. \u00a0I am looking forward to a fabulous year.<\/p>\n<p>September 5, 2017<\/p>\n<p>Dear Families,<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to the fifth grade.\u00a0 I am looking forward to an exciting year.\u00a0 You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year.\u00a0 I hope to work closely with each family.\u00a0 It is important that we keep the lines of communication open.\u00a0 Please check your child\u2019s take-home folder daily.\u00a0 One side will be marked \u201cstay home\u201d.\u00a0 These items should be taken out daily.\u00a0 The other side will be marked \u201creturn\u201d.\u00a0 Any item on this side needs to be returned to school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snack<\/strong> \u2013 It is essential to keep your child alert and motivated throughout the school day.\u00a0 We will have two snacks in this class (morning and afternoon).\u00a0 I ask that you send only healthy snacks (fruit, vegetables, crackers, cheese, dry cereal, etc.)\u00a0 These snacks take place during classroom activities.\u00a0 There is no time to stop to wash, peel, or prepare snacks.\u00a0 Please do not send cookies, cupcakes, fruit snacks,\u00a0 fruit drinks, or yogurt.\u00a0 Your child may bring a water bottle to school each day.\u00a0 Please be sure it has a tight seal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Labels<\/strong> \u2013 Please be sure to label everything that comes to school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homework<\/strong> &#8211; Your child will have homework.\u00a0 Please stress the importance of completing homework assignments neatly, carefully, and turning them when they are due.\u00a0 Your child should be encouraged to read for 20 minutes every evening. This will be recorded on their \u201cReading Log\u201d each night. You will be asked to initial the log EVERY evening.\u00a0 They will be graded on this log.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communication<\/strong> \u2013 A folder will come home with your child every day with completed work, homework, notes from school and the community.\u00a0 Please look at this folder daily.\u00a0 Anything on the \u201cStay Home\u201d side should be emptied.\u00a0 I will also sign planners daily.\u00a0 I expect you to look at and sign your child\u2019s planner EVERY DAY.\u00a0 This is also where you can write notes if you have questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Suggested Supplies <\/strong>\u2013 The following is a list supplies for your child to bring to class.<\/p>\n<p>Pencils<\/p>\n<p>Red pens<\/p>\n<p>Loose-leaf paper<\/p>\n<p>Colored markers<\/p>\n<p>Pencil sharpener (with lid)<\/p>\n<p>Pencil top erasers<\/p>\n<p>1 dry erase marker with sock to erase<\/p>\n<p>Glue stick<\/p>\n<p>2 boxes Kleenex tissue<\/p>\n<p>2 bottles of antibacterial soap<\/p>\n<p>1 set of Multiplication Facts Flashcards (1-12)<\/p>\n<p>More supplies may be needed as the school year progresses.\u00a0 I will send future notes home as needed.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, thank you for your support.\u00a0 I am pleased to be a part of the wonderful staff at Henry Ford Elementary.\u00a0 I am looking forward to a fun-filled year of learning with your children.<\/p>\n<p>Sincerely,<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Abraham<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:abrahas@dearbornschools.org\">abrahas@dearbornschools.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>313.827.4700<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WELCOME BACK!
