{"id":206,"date":"2016-09-06T14:30:45","date_gmt":"2016-09-06T18:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sabraham\/?page_id=206"},"modified":"2017-09-18T12:20:25","modified_gmt":"2017-09-18T16:20:25","slug":"welcome","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sabraham\/welcome\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">September 6, 2017<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dear Families,<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Welcome to the fifth grade. \u00a0I am looking forward to an exciting year. \u00a0You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year. \u00a0I hope to work closely with each family. \u00a0It is important that we keep the lines of communication open. \u00a0Please check your child\u2019s take-home folder daily. \u00a0One side will be marked \u201cstay home\u201d. \u00a0These items should be taken out daily. \u00a0The other side will be marked \u201creturn\u201d. \u00a0Any item on this side needs to be returned to school.<\/p>\n<p><b>Snack<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 It is essential to keep your child alert and motivated throughout the school day. \u00a0We will have two snacks in this class (morning and afternoon). \u00a0I ask that you send only healthy snacks (fruit, vegetables, crackers, cheese, dry cereal, etc.) \u00a0These snacks take place during classroom activities. \u00a0There is no time to stop to wash, peel, or prepare snacks. \u00a0Please do not send cookies, cupcakes, fruit snacks, \u00a0fruit drinks, or yogurt. \u00a0Your child may bring a water bottle to school each day. \u00a0Please be sure it has a tight seal. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Labels<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Please be sure to label everything that comes to school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Homework<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Your child will have homework. \u00a0Please stress the importance of completing homework assignments neatly, carefully, and turning them when they are due. \u00a0Your child should be encouraged to read for 20 minutes every evening. This will be recorded on their \u201cReading Log\u201d each night.
