I can&#8217;t speak for ALL teachers &#8211; but below is some information that may help you make sense of what&#8217;s going on with your grades for Language Arts 4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of right now, the letter grade you see in Student Connect reflects mastery of the essential standards as of Thursday, March 12th.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-vivid-purple-background-color\">Starting April 20th, you WILL be responsible for TWO TASKS PER week:  <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Engagement<\/span><\/strong> (<em>Did you check in?<\/em>) and <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Participation<\/span><\/strong> (<em>Did you complete the work to the best of your ability?<\/em>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PER Principal MARTIN (as outlined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1pWTUTUtnLbr1oTcswbUkG1uPqPBZtWB76a__LRzHTeE\/edit?usp=sharing\">DISTRICT CONTINUED LEARNING PLAN<\/a>):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For each class, if a student participates in the learning, he\/she will receive credit.\u00a0\u00a0The following will apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-vivid-green-cyan-background-color\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A<\/span><\/strong>: Students who do the following will earn the grade of A recorded:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Engage in at least 75% of the remote lessons and check-ins.<\/li><li>Submit and earn a passing grade on at least 75% of the assignments.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">G<\/span><\/strong>: Students who do the following will earn the grade of G which awards credit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Engage in 60-74% of the remote lessons and check-ins.<\/li><li>Submit and earn a passing grade on at least 60-74% of the assignments.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background has-very-dark-gray-color has-vivid-red-background-color\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">N<\/span><\/strong>: Students who do the following will earn the grade of N which is no credit given:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Engage in less than 60%&nbsp; of the remote lessons and check-ins.<\/li><li>Submit and earn a passing grade on less than 60% of the assignments.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p> WHAT THAT MEANS: If I were you, I would stop checking Student Connect- what you see there is <em>meaningless<\/em> right now.\u00a0 <strong>The 4 in the grade-book just indicates you \u201ccompleted\u201d the TASK.<\/strong> That\u2019s how Principal Martin wanted us to note you checked in (engagement) and \u201cdid\u201d the assignment (participation).\u00a0 <strong>It does NOT denote your mastery of that standard<\/strong> or how you <em>did<\/em> on the assignment<strong>!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sabbaghela\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2079\/2020\/05\/GRADING-in-the-Time-of-Remote-Learning.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sabbaghela\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2079\/2020\/05\/GRADING-in-the-Time-of-Remote-Learning.jpg 960w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sabbaghela\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2079\/2020\/05\/GRADING-in-the-Time-of-Remote-Learning-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sabbaghela\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2079\/2020\/05\/GRADING-in-the-Time-of-Remote-Learning-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-vivid-purple-background-color\"><strong>***** TL;DR: Your grade in Student Connect won\u2019t change until the end of the semester.
