Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading »

New Cycle Means New Students

As sad as it is to think I have to leave my kindergarten, first and second grade students to coach in other classrooms, I am so proud of how brave my super writers were when I asked them to take risks and try something new.  Anytime I walked into any of the classrooms, I was greeted with a cheer and students who were eager to learn and apply.  I hope the next groups are just as enthusiastic and willing to go outside their comfort zone in order to produce great pieces of writing.

Kindergarteners helping each other!

Part of Writer’s Workshop is working together to revise and edit.  I would say these two are pros at this!

Peer help

Wodad and Ali working together to write their opinion pieces.  We are beginning to write words that go with our pictures.  Stretching the word and writing the sounds they hear is just one strategy we have been learning.
