{"id":2289,"date":"2019-12-06T10:06:29","date_gmt":"2019-12-06T15:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/?p=2289"},"modified":"2019-12-06T10:06:31","modified_gmt":"2019-12-06T15:06:31","slug":"friday-newsletter-12-6-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/2019\/12\/06\/friday-newsletter-12-6-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Newsletter, 12-6-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News and Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Late Start:  12-18-19<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Santa Shop:  Next week, still waiting to hear when our shopping day will be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Classroom Holiday Party:  12-19-19 (Thursday), details and sign-up coming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BINGO FOR BOOK &#8211; tonight!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What We Did This Week<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We visited art, gym and music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We went to &#8220;First Class&#8221; to learn more about Habit 3 (Put First Things First).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We went to our first Reward Club meeting to celebrate good behavior for the month of November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ELA (English Language Arts):&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have met all of our Alpha Friends and we are reviewing letter names and sounds. We are also discussing basic concepts of print and studying the difference between a letter and a word.\u00a0<strong>We continue to read big books and discuss concepts important for reading.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We rotated through Daily 5 and students met with me in small literacy groups. Students are beginning to bring home practice bags (please keep them in the student\u2019s backpack).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Writing:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students continue to write with detail in their journal.  In addition they are helping me write stories,  recording specific sounds they hear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We continue our Measurement unit with exploring using a balance.  We introduced the vocabulary &#8220;heavier than&#8221; and &#8220;lighter than.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Science<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We used our sense of sight to mix colors and make observations of new colors that appeared.  Students were excited to use  science tools to mix, drop, and explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We introduced the concepts of Needs and Wants.  We recorded our ideas of what our needs and wants are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also continued our Second Steps lesson on feelings, identifying feelings on our friend\u2019s faces and responding appropriately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a great weekend!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News and Information: Late Start: 12-18-19 Santa Shop: Next week, still waiting to hear when our shopping day will be.
