{"id":1846,"date":"2019-01-11T10:29:07","date_gmt":"2019-01-11T15:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/?p=1846"},"modified":"2019-01-11T10:29:07","modified_gmt":"2019-01-11T15:29:07","slug":"student-timeline-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/2019\/01\/11\/student-timeline-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Timeline Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students brought home directions for their timeline project yesterday.\u00a0 Below is the information:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Timeline Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This month the children will be learning about timelines as a part of Social Studies.\u00a0 We will learn what they are used for, to keep track of events from the past.\u00a0 We will also learn how to read them and how they are organized<u>, in a straight line<\/u> and in order from the first event long ago until the newest event.\u00a0 To make this new skill more real to the students, we will begin by looking at how we have changed from the time we were a baby until now.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Then I will model several timelines including timelines for our day, the week, our school year and so on.<\/p>\n<p>To further enforce the learning I am asking your child, with the help of your family, make a timeline of their life, from birth to their current age.\u00a0 I would ask this project to contain 1 picture from each age, starting at birth.\u00a0 There should be a total of six or seven pictures on their timeline arranged in order from the left.\u00a0 If you do not have any pictures the children can draw one in.\u00a0 The children will need your help remembering the story or event about the earlier pictures, but encourage them to choose a favorite picture of the years they remember.\u00a0 Under each picture I would like a sentence or two at the most describing the picture.\u00a0 They will be asked to talk about their timeline in class before I hang them in the hall, so they may want to practice with you.\u00a0 They can be done on poster board, or construction paper.<strong>The timelines will be due Friday, \u00a0January 18th 2019<\/strong>.\u00a0 They may come in before that if they are ready<em>.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Points for the children to do:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 arrange the pictures in order<\/p>\n<p>glue<\/p>\n<p>write a few words about the picture<\/p>\n<p>be able to tell about the pictures<\/p>\n<p>I want to encourage you to have the children do as much work as possible, since they are responsible for their learning and we are responsible for helping them get there!<\/p>\n<p>**As a precaution, you may want to send in copies of the pictures, as occasionally they fall off in the hall!<\/p>\n<p>Have a great time exploring and remembering the past!<\/p>\n<p><strong>**Please see example of layout on the back of this page.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">My Timeline<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"0\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"50\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"22\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"50\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"22\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"50\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"22\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"50\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"22\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"50\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"22\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"50\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"22\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"50\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Birth\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1 year\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2 years\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3 years\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4 years\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5 years\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6 years<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The day I<\/p>\n<p>came home<\/p>\n<p>from the<\/p>\n<p>hospital.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>*Your timeline <strong>must<\/strong> be in a straight line across and read from left to right in the correct order.\u00a0 This may mean cutting the poster board.<\/p>\n<p>*Please do not use foam board as it is not able to be hung up in the hall.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let me know if you have any questions!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students brought home directions for their timeline project yesterday.\u00a0 Below is the information: &nbsp;
