{"id":1714,"date":"2018-10-13T07:22:21","date_gmt":"2018-10-13T11:22:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/?p=1714"},"modified":"2018-10-13T07:22:21","modified_gmt":"2018-10-13T11:22:21","slug":"friday-newsletter-10-12-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/2018\/10\/13\/friday-newsletter-10-12-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Newsletter, 10-12-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News and Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, October 17th:\u00a0 Late Start<\/p>\n<p>Friday, October 19th:\u00a0 Haunted School, 6-8 p.m. (watch for tickets being sold before school this week).<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Did This Week:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ELA:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our letters of the week were Cc, Gg<\/li>\n<li>Our sight words were\u00a0<strong>we<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>a<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>We read stories with rhyming words, we talked about \u201cthe characters\u201d of our stories and the beginning, middle and end of our stories.<\/li>\n<li>Our Poem this week was \u201cMy Friend!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>We rotated through Daily 5 (read to self, work on writing and word work).\u00a0 We are beginning to meet in small groups.<\/li>\n<li>In Writer\u2019s Workshop students wrote in their journals after participating in a \u201cshared writing\u201d with me.\u00a0 They are helping to record the sounds they here in words.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We completed Lesson 17 and 18 this week.\u00a0 Feel free to complete the practice pages from these lessons in the at home practice book.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leader in Me\/ Social Studies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This month we are learning about Habit 1 &#8211; Be Proactive<\/li>\n<li>In addition to what Responsibility means we are learning about being Fair.\u00a0 We wrote about a time when we were fair.\u00a0 We roll played some different school scenarios and discussed ways to be fair with our friends.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Science:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We continue to discuss push and pull.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We visited Gym, Art, Music and Media.<\/p>\n<p>We played during Free Choice Time.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alphabet Books were due Friday (Letter C and Letter G page).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nightly Literacy Homework<\/strong>\u00a0for October can be turned in Monday.<\/li>\n<li>Reading bags should travel back and forth to school daily in the backpack.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>The ring of words should be in the reading bag.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>I am asking for 4.00 from each family to cover the cost of the Razz Kids subscription.<\/li>\n<li>I hope that every one saw the letter that came home regarding the Holiday Boutique Raffle Basket.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Have a great weekend!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News and Information: Wednesday, October 17th:\u00a0 Late Start Friday, October 19th:\u00a0 Haunted School, 6-8 p.m. (watch for tickets being sold before school this week).
