{"id":1696,"date":"2018-10-05T21:53:09","date_gmt":"2018-10-06T01:53:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/?p=1696"},"modified":"2018-10-05T21:53:09","modified_gmt":"2018-10-06T01:53:09","slug":"friday-newsletter-10-5-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/2018\/10\/05\/friday-newsletter-10-5-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Newsletter, 10-5-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News and Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Monday, October 8th:\u00a0 Field Trip to the Apple Orchard<\/p>\n<p>Friday, October 12th:\u00a0 Half Day of School<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, October 17th:\u00a0 Late Start<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Did This Week:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ELA:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our letters of the week were Oo, Ii<\/li>\n<li>Our sight words were\u00a0<strong>come<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>and<\/strong>\u00a0(we will add these to our ring of words Monday).<\/li>\n<li>We read stories with rhyming words, we talked about \u201cthe characters\u201d of our stories and the beginning, middle and end of our stories.<\/li>\n<li>Our Poem this week was \u201cMy Puppy!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>We rotated through Daily 5 (read to self, work on writing and word work).\u00a0 We are beginning to meet in small groups.<\/li>\n<li>In Writer\u2019s Workshop students wrote in their journals after participating in a \u201cshared writing\u201d with me.\u00a0 They are helping to record the sounds they here in words.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I used this week to assess Module 1.\u00a0 I pulled students one on one to assess while the others worked in math centers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leader in Me\/ Social Studies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We\u00a0 hung our mission statement outside our room.<\/li>\n<li>We had our first &#8220;First Class&#8221; meeting.\u00a0 Students are grouped with other teachers and other multi-age students &#8211; we discussed Habit 1, &#8220;Be Proactive&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>We attended a whole school assembly<\/li>\n<li>We are talking about &#8220;being responsible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Science:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We discussed push and pull and introduced force.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We visited Gym, Art, Music and Media.<\/p>\n<p>We played during Free Choice Time.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alphabet Books were due Today (Letter I and Letter O page).\u00a0 I will return them on Monday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nightly Literacy Homework<\/strong>\u00a0for October can be turned in Monday.<\/li>\n<li>Reading bags should travel back and forth to school daily in the backpack.\u00a0 <strong>The ring of words should be in the reading bag.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Have a great weekend!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News and Information: Monday, October 8th:\u00a0 Field Trip to the Apple Orchard Friday, October 12th:\u00a0 Half Day of School Wednesday, October 17th:\u00a0 Late Start What We Did This Week: ELA:\u00a0 Our letters of the week were Oo, Ii Our sight words were\u00a0come,\u00a0and\u00a0(we will add these to our ring of words Monday).
