{"id":1648,"date":"2018-09-14T08:30:20","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T12:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/?p=1648"},"modified":"2018-09-14T08:30:20","modified_gmt":"2018-09-14T12:30:20","slug":"friday-newsletter-9-14-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/2018\/09\/14\/friday-newsletter-9-14-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Newsletter, 9-14-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News and Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Late Start:\u00a0 Wednesday, September 19th, school begins at 9:35 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Did This Week:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The students continued to learn school rules and classroom procedures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ELA:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our letters of the week were Rr, Bb<\/li>\n<li>Our sight words were can, the<\/li>\n<li>We read stories about coming to Kindergarten, Fall and books with rhyming words.<\/li>\n<li>Our Poem this week was \u201cI see\u201d<\/li>\n<li>We are building our \u201cRead to Self\u201d stamina.\u00a0 We talked about ways to read a book when we don\u2019t know the words yet.<\/li>\n<li>We wrote in our journals during Writer\u2019s Workshop.\u00a0 Students are being encouraged to add lots of detail to their drawings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We had 4 lessons this week on classifying to make categories and counting.\u00a0 Lessons 5-8 in the at home math practice book can be done.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leader in Me\/ Social Studies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We talked about characteristics of a leader.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Science:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We set up our science notebooks and talked about what a scientist looks like.\u00a0 We are also collecting evidence of Fall for our Science table.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We visited Gym, Art, Music and Media and the Book Fair<\/p>\n<p>We played during Free Choice Time<\/p>\n<p>We took our Math NWEA assessment on the chrome books.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alphabet Books were due today (Letter R and Letter B page).\u00a0 I will return them on Monday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nightly Literacy Homework<\/strong>\u00a0continues for the month.\u00a0 These can be turned in every Monday to show progress.<\/li>\n<li>Reading Bags should come to school every day and be left in the backpack.\u00a0 I know there is not much in them now but sight words and reading books are coming soon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>**Please remember to pack an afternoon snack separate from the lunch box.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Have a great weekend!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News and Information: Late Start:\u00a0 Wednesday, September 19th, school begins at 9:35 a.m. What We Did This Week: The students continued to learn school rules and classroom procedures.
