{"id":1631,"date":"2018-09-07T19:20:12","date_gmt":"2018-09-07T23:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/?p=1631"},"modified":"2018-09-07T19:20:12","modified_gmt":"2018-09-07T23:20:12","slug":"friday-newsletter-9-7-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/2018\/09\/07\/friday-newsletter-9-7-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Newsletter 9-7-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News and Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Open House:\u00a0 Thursday, September 13th, 6:00-7:30<\/p>\n<p>Half Day:\u00a0 Friday, September 14th, dismissal at 11:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Did This Week:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The students continued to learn school rules and classroom procedures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ELA:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our letters of the week were Mm, Ss<\/li>\n<li>Our sight words were I,\u00a0 the<\/li>\n<li>We read stories about Kindergarten, Fall and books with rhyming words.<\/li>\n<li>We introduced our first poem for our poem books, &#8220;The Apple Tree&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>We are building our &#8220;Read to Self&#8221; stamina.\u00a0 We talked about ways to read a book when we don&#8217;t know the words yet.<\/li>\n<li>We wrote in our journals during Writer&#8217;s Workshop.\u00a0 Students are being encouraged to add lots of detail to their drawings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We had 4 lessons this week on sorting and classifying.\u00a0 In the green math homework book that was sent home feel free to practice the pages that follow lessons 1-4.\u00a0 These pages <strong>DO NOT NEED TO BE TURNED IN.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leader in Me\/ Social Studies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We continue to talk about being proactive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Science:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We will begin Science next week with &#8220;What it means to be a Scientist&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We visited Gym, Art, Music and Media<\/p>\n<p>We played during Free Choice Time<\/p>\n<p>We took our first NWEA assessment test on the chrome books.\u00a0 This was a reading assessment.\u00a0 We will take the math assessment next week.\u00a0 These scores will be shared at fall conferences.\u00a0 Ask your student about using the touch screen computers!!<\/p>\n<p>And most importantly we survived the heat!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alphabet Books were due today (Letter M and Letter S page).\u00a0 I will return them on Monday.\u00a0 If you forgot don&#8217;t worry.\u00a0 We can catch up next week.\u00a0 <strong>Alphabet Books will come home every Monday and should be returned every Friday in the red folder.\u00a0 On Monday I will share the letters of the week to work on.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Nightly Literacy Homework<\/strong> continues for the month.\u00a0 Keep these graphs (with the balls) at home.\u00a0 That way they don&#8217;t get lost coming to and from school.\u00a0 These will not be turned in until the end of the month.<\/li>\n<li>Reading Bags should come to school every day and be left in the backpack.\u00a0 I know there is not much in them now but sight words and reading books are coming soon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>**Please remember to pack an afternoon snack separate from the lunch box.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Have a great weekend!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News and Information: Open House:\u00a0 Thursday, September 13th, 6:00-7:30 Half Day:\u00a0 Friday, September 14th, dismissal at 11:45 a.m. What We Did This Week: The students continued to learn school rules and classroom procedures.
