Every year, students from Lindbergh submit art in various media for judging.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0School finalists are submitted to the City of Dearborn\u00a0<i>and<\/i>\u00a0State of Michigan competitions.\u00a0\u00a0Finalists from the State are submitted into the national competition where Awards of Excellence and Merit are presented.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Although Reflections entries are judged, the goal is to allow students to express themselves creatively and receive positive recognition for their work.\u00a0\u00a0There is a special recognition ceremony for the City of Dearborn entries.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Entrants may submit interpretations of the 2013-14 theme,\u00a0<\/b><b>Believe, Dream, Inspire. . .,\u00a0<\/b><b>in the following categories:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Visual Arts<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 An original print, drawing, painting, collage, photographic collage, metal etching or punch work, fiber work, or computer-generated artwork related to\u00a0<b>Believe, Dream, Inspire. . .<\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0Only one student may contribute to each visual arts entry.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Please do not keep a canvas on a stretcher (if canvas is used).\u00a0\u00a0Please do not exceed 24 x 30 inches.<b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Literature<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Write a fiction or non-fiction short story, poem, prose, or drama and explore the theme:\u00a0\u00a0<b>Believe, Dream, Inspire. . .<\/b>\u00a0(maximum 2,000 words).\u00a0\u00a0Please only write or type on one side of the paper.\u00a0\u00a0Pictures can be drawn (original by the student) but only the literary content is judged.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Photography<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Take pictures of your interpretation of the theme:\u00a0<b>Believe, Dream, Inspire. .\u00a0<\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0It can be black and white or color, or a group of images.\u00a0\u00a0You can incorporate techniques including montage, multiple exposure, negative sandwiches, and photograms.\u00a0\u00a0The images can be manipulated manually or digitally.\u00a0\u00a0Do not add words to an image (don\u2019t type on an image).\u00a0\u00a0Do not exceed 11 x 14 inches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Dance Choreography<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Up to three dancers can perform the choreography depicting\u00a0<b>Believe, Dream, Inspire. . .<\/b>\u00a0(choreographer must be one of the dancers and the routine must be an original) and it should be recorded on a DVD, flash drive or CD.\u00a0\u00a0Make a copy for yourself because CDs and DVDs aren\u2019t returned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Film Production<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Must be an original work of fiction or nonfiction relating to\u00a0<b>Believe, Dream, Inspire. . .<\/b>\u00a0and must not exceed 5 minutes.\u00a0\u00a0It can be with or without sound.\u00a0\u00a0The student must be the director, screenwriter, and cameraperson (a tripod can be used so that producer may appear in the film himself or herself).\u00a0\u00a0Examples include an animation, narrative, documentary, experimental, or media presentation (PowerPoint presentations are not accepted).\u00a0\u00a0Submissions should be in formats including .MPG \/ .PEG, .MOV \/ .QT, .WMV, CD, or DVD.\u00a0\u00a0If the film is not in English, subtitles are required.\u00a0\u00a0Make a copy for yourself because originals aren\u2019t returned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Musical Composition<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Create a musical composition for voice, instruments, or a combination of voice and instruments and do not exceed 5 minutes to relate to the theme of\u00a0<b>Believe, Dream, Inspire. . .<\/b><\/span>.<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0\u00a0The work must be an original work of one student only.\u00a0\u00a0The performance needs to be recorded on a CD (though the student does not have to perform it themselves).\u00a0\u00a0The musical score should be submitted no larger than 11 x 14 inches (band and orchestra compositions can be 11 x 16 inches).\u00a0\u00a0Do not mount or bind the scores.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b>DUE DATE:\u00a0\u00a0MONDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2013<\/b><\/p>\n<div><strong>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Complete this form for your entry.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/file\/d\/0B6IZ2KBKOaslM0JFQTZrMHZzSjg\/edit?usp=drive_web\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Reflections_Student_Entry_<wbr \/>Form.pdf<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"center\"><b><\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reflections 2013-14: Believe, Dream, Inspire. . .
