{"id":1491,"date":"2018-04-20T19:58:11","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T23:58:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/?p=1491"},"modified":"2018-04-20T19:58:11","modified_gmt":"2018-04-20T23:58:11","slug":"friday-newsletter-4-20-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/2018\/04\/20\/friday-newsletter-4-20-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Newsletter, 4-20-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News and Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Science Fair Bootcamp \u2013 April 26th, 5:30-7:00<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Did This Week<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We review our Alpha Friends daily.<\/p>\n<p>We introduced the sight word: it<\/p>\n<p>We are \u201cstretching sounds\u201d and recording what we hear in our journals.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0continued our introduction to\u00a0Opinion writing, writing our opinions about our favorite book.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0finished\u00a0reading stories by Eric Carle.<\/p>\n<p>In handwriting we are beginning practice with letters that have straight lines and slanted lines! \u2013 this week we practiced M.<\/p>\n<p>In math we continue to have \u201cnumber talks\u201d using our ten frames and we continue to practice writing numerals 1-20.\u00a0 We introduced the concepts of &#8220;greater than&#8221; and &#8220;less than.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media.<\/p>\n<p>We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.<\/p>\n<p>We attended the jazz band concert (students from Bryant Middle School) as our weekly behavior reward.<\/p>\n<p>In Science we are discussing the needs of plants and animals.\u00a0 We made bird feeders to hang outdoors and we discussed why animals need shelter.<\/p>\n<p>Science Boards (Gummy Worm project)\u00a0are due next week.\u00a0 The students will present their boards in class before Science Fair Boot Camp on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News and Information Science Fair Bootcamp \u2013 April 26th, 5:30-7:00 What We Did This Week We review our Alpha Friends daily.
