{"id":1467,"date":"2018-03-23T13:55:38","date_gmt":"2018-03-23T17:55:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/?p=1467"},"modified":"2018-03-23T13:56:15","modified_gmt":"2018-03-23T17:56:15","slug":"1467","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/2018\/03\/23\/1467\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Newsletter, 3-23-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News and Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No School:\u00a0 Friday, March 30<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 April 8<sup>th<\/sup> (Spring Break)<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Did This Week<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We review our Alpha Friends daily.<\/p>\n<p>We introduced the sight word: am<\/p>\n<p>We are \u201cstretching sounds\u201d and recording what we hear in our journals.\u00a0 We wrote about Spring!<\/p>\n<p>We welcomed some guest readers to help celebrate March is Reading month.<\/p>\n<p>In handwriting we are beginning practice with letters that have straight lines and slanted lines! \u2013 this week we practiced K.<\/p>\n<p>In math we continue to have \u201cnumber talks\u201d using our ten frames and we continue to practice writing numerals 1-20.<\/p>\n<p>We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media.<\/p>\n<p>In Second Steps we talked about how hard it is to \u201cwait\u201d and be patient and what we can do to help control our body while waiting.<\/p>\n<p>We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.\u00a0 I collected reading bags and will send them home again next week.\u00a0 I am cleaning out old books and preparing new ones for the last card marking period.<\/p>\n<p>Students who earned the weekly reward party picked from the prize box.<\/p>\n<p>In Science we began to discuss plants and animals and their needs.<\/p>\n<p>Remember students can perform the tasks on the March is Reading Month Calendar at home and with a parent initials can turn it in at the end of the month (Thursday, March 29<sup>th<\/sup>) for a prize.<\/p>\n<p>Reading Logs can also be turned in at the end of the month for a personal pizza.\u00a0 March is the last month that Pizza Hut participates in this program.<\/p>\n<p>There is still time to be a guest reader.\u00a0 We would love to hear you share your favorite story with us!\u00a0 Email me if you are interested!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ruselij@dearbornschools.org<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News and Information No School:\u00a0 Friday, March 30th \u2013 April 8th (Spring Break) What We Did This Week We review our Alpha Friends daily.
