What We Did This Week<\/strong><\/p>\n

We review our Alpha Friends daily.<\/p>\n

We introduced the sight word: can<\/p>\n

We are \u201cstretching sounds\u201d and recording what we hear in our journals.\u00a0 We wrote about what we “can” do.<\/p>\n

We welcomed many guest readers.\u00a0 We heard stories\u00a0read by\u00a0students in Dearborn High’s Anti-Bullying club and from the Dearborn High football team.<\/p>\n

In handwriting we are beginning practice with letters that have straight lines and curves and slanted lines!\u00a0\u2013 this week we practiced R.<\/p>\n

In math we continue to practice\u00a0counting by 5\u2019s and we played a new math\u00a0game called “Race to Fill the Cup.”<\/p>\n

We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media.<\/p>\n

In Second Steps we talked about stoping \u201cpausing\u201d our frustration and naming what we are feeling.\u00a0 We added “belly breathing” to calm down before talking to our friends.<\/p>\n

We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.<\/p>\n

We watched the Kindergarten and 1st grade’s spring music concert.<\/p>\n

Students who earned the weekly reward party visited with “Papa Doug” who continued to discuss the making of a rainbow and coloring mixing.<\/p>\n

In Science\u00a0we discussed how a rainbow is made and in anticipation of St. Patrick’s day we designed and built traps to catch a leprechaun.\u00a0 We didn’t catch any but he left us something special…….<\/p>\n

Remember students can perform the tasks on the March is Reading Month Calendar at home\u00a0and with a parent initials can turn it in at the end of the month for a prize.<\/p>\n
