News and Information<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reminder:\u00a0 No school for Kindergarten and Young Fives on Friday, February 2nd.<\/p>\n

Valentine’s Day<\/strong><\/p>\n

We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on February 14th, 9:00-10:00 a.m.\u00a0 A sign up for food and materials will be posted soon.\u00a0 Yes, we are handing out Valentine cards (for your purchasing planning).\u00a0 More details to come!<\/p>\n

What We Did This Week<\/strong><\/p>\n

We introduced our Alpha Friend,\u00a0Vinnie Volcano, Letter V<\/p>\n

We colored the letters , colored letter pictures, and worked in our poem books.<\/p>\n

We introduced the sight word: up<\/p>\n

We had an introduction to informational writing.\u00a0 We wrote to tell about Giant Pandas!<\/p>\n

We read stories about Bears, and answered questions about key details in the story.<\/p>\n

We reviewed in our Handwriting books using our \u201cthree finger squeeze\u201d and introducing the \u201cmagic C\u201d \u2013 \u201cbig curve.”\u00a0 We learned and practiced capital G.<\/p>\n

We are counting to 100 using songs and our math grid.<\/p>\n

We also practiced counting by 10\u2019s to 100.<\/p>\n

We learned a new math game called “Top It”<\/p>\n

We continue our number talks and building numbers on the \u201cten frame.\u201d<\/p>\n

We also continue to practice our number formation.<\/p>\n

In Science we are tracking the daily weather.\u00a0 We also talked about Storms.<\/p>\n

We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media<\/p>\n

We practice Habit 4 \u2013 \u201cThink Win Win\u201d during free choice when we listen to other\u2019s ideas and work with them to have a positive play experience.<\/p>\n

In Second Steps we continue to practice reading emotions and having empathy.<\/p>\n

We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.<\/p>\n
