{"id":1414,"date":"2018-01-26T08:30:54","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T13:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/?p=1414"},"modified":"2018-01-26T08:30:54","modified_gmt":"2018-01-26T13:30:54","slug":"friday-newsletter-1-26-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/2018\/01\/26\/friday-newsletter-1-26-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Newsletter, 1-26-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News and Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No School for Kindergarten and Young 5&#8217;s, Friday, February 2nd<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Did This Week<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We introduced our Alpha Friends,\u00a0Zelda Zebra (Z) and Edna Elephant (E)<\/p>\n<p>We colored the letters , colored letter pictures, and worked in our poem books.<\/p>\n<p>We introduced the sight word: the<\/p>\n<p>We wrote in our journals\u00a0using details and recalling characters from stories we read in class.<\/p>\n<p>We continue to enjoy read aloud stories answering the question, what happened in the story in the beginning, middle and end.<\/p>\n<p>We reviewed in our Handwriting books using our \u201cthree finger squeeze\u201d and introducing the \u201cmagic C\u201d \u2013 \u201cbig curve\u201d\u00a0 We now have practiced O&#8217;s and Q&#8217;s (letters in the magic C family).<\/p>\n<p>We are counting to 100 using songs and our math grid.<\/p>\n<p>We also practiced counting by 10\u2019s to 100.<\/p>\n<p>We continue our number talks and building numbers on the \u201cten frame.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We also continue to practice our number formation.<\/p>\n<p>In Science we are tracking the daily weather.\u00a0 We also learned why penguins have wings! (Ask your student to explain.)<\/p>\n<p>We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media<\/p>\n<p>We practice Habit 4 \u2013 \u201cThink Win Win\u201d during free choice when we listen to other&#8217;s ideas and work with them to have a positive play experience.<\/p>\n<p>In Second Steps we continued in lessons on knowing how to recognize different emotions and we introduced the meaning of empathy.<\/p>\n<p>We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.<\/p>\n<p>I have finished January assessments.<\/p>\n<p>Students who were on green 3 days this week got to pick from the prize box.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions please let me know.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News and Information No School for Kindergarten and Young 5&#8217;s, Friday, February 2nd What We Did This Week We introduced our Alpha Friends,\u00a0Zelda Zebra (Z) and Edna Elephant (E) We colored the letters , colored letter pictures, and worked in our poem books.
