{"id":22,"date":"2013-03-05T08:02:13","date_gmt":"2013-03-05T13:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/defaulttemplate1\/?page_id=22"},"modified":"2020-08-29T09:28:58","modified_gmt":"2020-08-29T13:28:58","slug":"class-info","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/class-info\/","title":{"rendered":"Classroom Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE BELOW INFORMATION ONLY APPLIES TO WHEN SCHOOL IS FACE TO FACE.\u00a0 VIRTUAL LEARNING PROCEDURES WILL BE DIFFERENT.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Ruselink<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Room 112<\/li>\n<li>ruselij@dearbornschools.org<\/li>\n<li>Lindbergh Office: 827-6300<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please read the following information carefully and <strong>save this information to refer to as the school year progresses.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Remember that the first week of school is a \u201csoft start.\u201d\u00a0 Monday-Thursday are half days with dismissal at 11:45.\u00a0 There is no school Friday.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Kindergarten students will practice eating lunch in the cafeteria during soft start.\u00a0 Please plan to pack a lunch Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday or a school lunch can be provided.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><strong><u>Classroom Blog<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The majority of class communication will be posted on my blog.\u00a0 Please visit the site and subscribe for notifications.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/\">https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/ruselink\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><u>Remember to confirm your subscription through your email.<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Please sign up for the Lindbergh Blog as well.\u00a0 This is mostly communication from the office.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lindbergh.dearbornschools.org\/\">https:\/\/lindbergh.dearbornschools.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Arrival and Dismissal Times<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The bell for students to enter the building is at 8:35 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The tardy bell will ring at 8:40<\/p>\n<p>Dismissal is at 3:35 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Half-Day dismissal is at 11:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Late start days will begin at 9:35 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><u>If you are tardy and the entry doors are locked you must enter through the front office doors and sign your student in.\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Our class will line up daily on the number \u201c<strong>6<\/strong>\u201d on the lower elementary blacktop.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Transportation<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are eligible to ride the bus you will receive a postcard with information from the Transportation Department, Dearborn Public Schools.<\/p>\n<p>Please communicate with me how your student will leave school and typically who with.<\/p>\n<p>If there is a change in transportation or who is picking up the student it must be called into the office or you must send a note informing me of the changes with a parent signature.\u00a0<u>STUDENTS WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO ANYBODY WITHOUT SIGNED PERMISSION.<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Red Communication Folders<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students will bring home red communication folders daily.\u00a0 In this folder expect to find student work and or information from the school.\u00a0\u00a0<strong><u>Please be sure to empty and return the folder every day!<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Snack<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please pack a healthy snack for your child every day.\u00a0 <u>Make sure they know it is their snack and not their lunch<\/u>.\u00a0 Mark it \u201csnack\u201d or use a different container other than their lunchbox.<\/p>\n<p>We will have morning snack.<\/p>\n<p>No juice please. Water bottles are encouraged.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Birthdays<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students are welcome to celebrate their birthday in class with a small treat.\u00a0 Please communicate when and what you are bringing into school so I can plan and check for allergies.\u00a0 Birthday celebrations will take place toward the end of our school day.\u00a0 Please keep in mind small simple treats or goodie bags work best.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Lunch<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our lunch period is at 11:40 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Students will eat first and then be dismissed to the playground.<\/p>\n<p>Students may bring their lunch in a lunch box or order school lunch.<\/p>\n<p>All Dearborn Schools students qualify for a free school lunch.\u00a0 Lunch menus will be sent home for planning.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Extra Clothes<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please send in an extra set of clothes for your student to keep in the top shelf of their locker for accidents.\u00a0 I have found that keeping them in a grocery bag or gallon Ziploc bag works best.\u00a0 Please write your student\u2019s name on the bag.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Back Packs<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although the students are small a &#8220;normal sized&#8221; backpack instead of the junior sized back pack works best.\u00a0 Especially in the winter packing shoes, boots and snow pants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>School Supplies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Y5 supply list can be found on the Lindbergh blog under &#8220;suggested school supplies.&#8221;\u00a0 Supplies can be sent in at any time.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Special Classes<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students will attend gym, art, music and the media center\/computer lab classes.\u00a0 A schedule of which days these classes will occur will come home soon.<\/p>\n<p>Please wear tennis shoes on gym days.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Quiet Time<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students will not be taking formal naps during the day.\u00a0 After lunch we will return to the room for a bathroom break, drink break and quiet time.\u00a0 This is usually soft music and coloring or watching a short PBS show.\u00a0 At this time your student can also rest their head on their table or the carpet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>School Calendar<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please be aware of the Kindergarten\/ Y5 release days.\u00a0 There will be no school for Kindergarten\/Y5 only on these days:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Friday, September 27, 2019<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Friday, February 7, 2020<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Field Trips<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you plan to chaperone any field trips (we should have 2 this year) you must have a <u>completed background check on file<\/u>.\u00a0 Many of you may have completed this paperwork when you registered your student.\u00a0 If not, please stop by the office to do so.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Classroom Rules and Discipline &#8211; PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The students and I will come up with our classroom rules together.\u00a0 If a student breaks a rule we have a &#8220;clip system&#8221; we follow.\u00a0 Students start every day with their clip on green.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First time they break a rule: Verbal warning<\/li>\n<li>Second time: They move their clip to yellow (warning)<\/li>\n<li>Third time: They move their clip to orange (time out chair)<\/li>\n<li>Fourth time: They move their clip to red (sent to the office and a phone call to the parent)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>PBIS means we try to correct negative behavior with positive language.<\/p>\n<p>We will also hold month reward parties for students who stay on &#8220;green&#8221; 90% of the month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I am looking forward to a positive school year and want to be able to answer any questions or concerns you may have.\u00a0 Please do not hesitate to contact me.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Email address:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:Ruselij@dearbornschools.org\">Ruselij@dearbornschools.org<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE BELOW INFORMATION ONLY APPLIES TO WHEN SCHOOL IS FACE TO FACE.\u00a0 VIRTUAL LEARNING PROCEDURES WILL BE DIFFERENT.
