5518 –\u00a0USE OF CELLULAR PHONES<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Board of Education recognizes that cellular phones can detract from school safety and that it is difficult to manage the use of cell phones in school. The Board acknowledges that the use of cell phones in society is on the increase and that family members increasingly rely on this tool for communication. However, the unrestrained use of cell phones in school, during school hours, can be very disruptive.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With parent\/guardian permission only, students are allowed to have cellular phones. Cell phones may be used outside the school building (before the start of the day and after dismissal). Additionally, cell phones may be used with the permission of school staff.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Using or displaying cell phones outside the allowed times and conditions, without staff permission, constitutes a violation of the Student Code of Conduct and may result in disciplinary action.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Parents and students are reminded that the school is not responsible for loss, damage, or theft of cell phones.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
