Our class is getting in the holiday spirit this season with many seasonal events occurring this month. Make sure to check out the calendar and our blog for weekly updates about these events.<\/p>\n<p>Listed below you will see what we are working on for this week!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading-\u00a0<\/strong>Making connections between nonfiction text, nonfiction points of view (author&#8217;s opinion), and verbs<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing-\u00a0<\/strong>Researching winter holidays from around the world. Today your child picked out their holiday they will be researching this month. Rubric will be sent home later this week!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math-<\/strong>\u00a0Estimate and measure liquid volume in liters and milliliters using a number line, solving mixed word problems involving all four operations with measurement units, and mid-module check-point.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science-\u00a0<\/strong>This week in science we explored the mystery, \u201cHow can you predict when it\u2019s going to storm?\u201d We learned about differences between fair weather clouds and storm clouds, and the role of wind direction in determining whether a rain cloud will pass overhead. You can continue to support your child\u2019s curiosity by looking at clouds together and asking, \u201cWhat kind of clouds do you think those are? I wonder if it will rain\u2026\u201d Ask your child if they\u2019d like to show you their Storm Spotter\u2019s Guide, a small book they made to help them remember how to use the clouds to predict the weather.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies-\u00a0<\/strong>The three fire Native-American tribes in Michigan, Native-American folktales, and settlers interaction with Native Americans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spelling-\u00a0<\/strong><em>content words:\u00a0<\/em> liter, storm, verb, timeline, and measure<\/p>\n<p><em>spelling pattern \/ow\/:<\/em> snow, blow, throw, glow,\u00a0and\u00a0willow<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leader in Me-\u00a0<\/strong>Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind.
