I have been in and out of the building this week due to an upper respiratory infection and our class has been so kind and patient this week. I do apologize for the timing in regards to our usual weekly update. Without further adieu here are some things that we have been working on this week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading:\u00a0<\/strong>Continuing\u00a0Characters, character traits, and how illustrations help us understand characters and mood.<\/p>\n<p>Every child has a reading group.\u00a0 They may read those books and add them to their reading logs.\u00a0 Remember children should be reading 20 min. a night!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/polidol\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/272\/2018\/10\/IMG_9739.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3006\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/polidol\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/272\/2018\/10\/IMG_9739-225x300.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/polidol\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/272\/2018\/10\/IMG_9739-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/polidol\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/272\/2018\/10\/IMG_9739-768x1024.jpg 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing:\u00a0<\/strong>Beginning to brainstorm more Narrative Writing Topics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies:\u00a0<\/strong>Location (relative and absolute), the bodies of Water in Michigan, and the other landforms in Michigan<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We continued our study of forces this week, this time by considering some of the forces involved in designing a bridge (as an activity your child designed and tested their own bridge made of paper).<\/p>\n<p>One fun thing you can do to support this week\u2019s learning is sit down together with your child and enjoy browsing through some of the world\u2019s most intriguing and extraordinary bridges (see link). Based on what they learned in class, your child might point out to you where the bridge\u2019s weight is supported. https:\/\/www.thrillist.com\/travel\/nation\/30-of-the-craziest-bridges-in-the-world<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math:\u00a0<\/strong>Modeling division as the unknown factor of multiplication using arrays and tape diagrams, interpreting the quotient of division problems using units of 2-3.<\/p>\n<p>** Remember I have videos posted to help your child please watch them!<\/p>\n<p>Also, I\u2019ve had a few questions regarding Sprints and Fluency Patterns.\u00a0 These are timed they do one then they do the other.\u00a0 Sometimes in the same day sometimes one one day and one the next.\u00a0 They are NOT graded.\u00a0 They are to make your child feel successful that they are beating their score.\u00a0 Please do not be upset that your child hasn\u2019t gotten through them all.\u00a0 This is a new program but I will mention that many students are not keeping up with the homework.\u00a0 I have talked to them and will be sending homework not turned in throughout the week.\u00a0 Today they should have brought home Lesson 13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leader in Me:\u00a0 Wednesday<\/strong>\u00a0our class will be talking about producing quality work and being responsible.\u00a0 When the return home ask them \u201cHow do you know when you have produced quality work?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you so much for being so understanding and flexible this week parents!
