Today would be the perfect day to curl up with a good book and spend some quality family time! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week we will be continuing our student-led parent-teacher conferences. Since we had a snow day today, we will be rescheduling the conferences for this evening. I will let you know once we get a date confirmed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Listed below is what we are going to be covering this week regarding content: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reading &#8211; <\/strong>Recounting key details and determining the main idea and using text evidence to draw inferences. We also will be practicing comparing two texts on the same topic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Writing- <\/strong>Introducing performance tasks. Performance tasks are what M-STEP prompts look like. Students will practice reading and analyzing texts, answering two-part selected response questions, and answering multiple response questions <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spelling- <\/strong>We will be practicing our spelling words for two weeks this time due to the snow day. The spelling test will be on Friday 11\/22. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spelling Pattern- long u and long o sounds: arrows, broken, contribution, new, obeyed, told, united, and used <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Math- <\/strong>Time measurement and problem solving. Using number lines to solve word problems involving time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Studies- <\/strong>Discussing natural resources of Michigan, movement of people, goods, and services within Michigan, and how people adapt to the environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Science- <\/strong>This week\u2019s lesson on forces will be about the force of friction. Specifically we will consider friction in the context of solving the mystery, \u201cHow can you slide faster down a slide?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One fun thing you can do with your child to help support this week\u2019s learning is to watch a video of this new invention, called \u201cliquiglide.\u201d This is a situation where removing friction would make your life easier. The grape jelly video is impressive:  https:\/\/vimeo.com\/89936192<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leader in Me- <\/strong>Creating a cadence of accountability for our academic W.I.Gs. As a class we will discover how having a partner will help encourage us to work towards our W.I.G.s. Students will then practice having a &#8220;huddle up&#8221; moment with partners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Upcoming Events<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuesday- <\/strong>Snow Day <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday- <\/strong> Ukulele Club and Student-Led Conferences 4:00-7:30 pm<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Snow Day Everyone!
