Students will read, write, and evaluate different forms of argumentative and persuasive texts, including non-fiction literature, news articles, informational texts, debates, and transcripts. During this unit, students will also write arguments and counter-arguments that involve citing claims, evidence, and reasoning.<br><strong><em>Homework<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0\u2013<br><\/em><strong><em>10\/21\/19\u00a0<\/em>\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Work on your argumentative vocab quadrants &#8211; Due Wednesday!<br><strong><em>10\/22\/19\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u2013  \u00a0Work on your argumentative vocab quadrants &#8211; Due tomorrow!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8th Grade STEM Apps<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013<br>This week, we\u2019ll be implementing our mathematical, technical drawing, spatial reasoning, and engineering skills by finishing up our STEM Cardboard Chair Project. Students will be working in teams to design, create, and build a fully functional piece of furniture out of cardboard that can support the weight of at least one member of their group.
