Mention<br \/>\nthings like quarts, pints, gallons, inches, yards, feet, pounds, ounces, miles, etc. (use metrics<br \/>\nalso)<br \/>\n\u2022 Shopping experiences such as:<br \/>\nchild reads newspaper ads for item prices<br \/>\ncompares containers as to best buy<br \/>\nchild purchases item and figures change<br \/>\nfold under total on grocery tape and let child re-add it<br \/>\nmanage allowance&#8230;saving toward goal<br \/>\n\u2022 Encourage your child to read the time from a non digital clock&#8230;include reading the minute, a.m.<br \/>\nand p.m.<br \/>\n\u2022 Buy or make flashcards for any basic facts that are proving difficult&#8230;USE THEM ON A REGULAR<br \/>\nBASIS<br \/>\nOther<br \/>\n\u2022 Encourage curiosity about geography, maps, and weather<br \/>\n\u2022 Encourage use of dictionary, atlas, globe, encyclopedia, road maps<br \/>\n\u2022 Encourage your child to be a \u201ccollector\u201d. Provide a place for collections&#8230;box, shelf, drawer&#8230;an<br \/>\ninexpensive picture frame or box lid can show off leaves, flowers, stamps or even insects.<br \/>\nSee to it that your child has enough sleep and a nutritious breakfast each day.<br \/>\nDoes your child \u201cdislike\u201d a certain subject? Find out why. Your child may need extra help. Seek<br \/>\nthe reason behind the dislike, then enlist the teacher\u2019s help so that you can work together.<br \/>\nREMEMBER!
