center;\"><b>FRAMEWORK<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Objectives<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To increase student awareness about the biological, environmental, behavioral, and social causes and consequences of drug abuse and addiction<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To teach students strategies to prevent drug use and its negative consequences<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To minimize the stigma surrounding drug abuse and provide hope via education, identification and treatment<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To teach parents how to recognize signs of substance abuse and initiate a conversation with their child and get appropriate help<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Our Community Partners Will\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide at least one face to face instructional experience for each student in a classroom setting grades 3 through 12<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide at least one interactive school assembly<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Provide at least one parent education meeting at each\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 school<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>Increase v<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">isibility at Parent Teacher Conferences, Open\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0House, PTA, Orientations and other school related events<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>School Coordinators<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each principal has identified a Healthy Living Coordinator in each building<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The designated coordinator will connect with the community partner assigned to that school<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Collaboratively, they will<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Create<\/em> a schedule of classroom visits for substance prevention education<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Schedule<\/em> one parent education meeting and one assembly (grade level or targeted)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Identify<\/em> opportunities for the community partner to be visible with resources at one or more of the following school events; Parent Teacher Conference, Open House, Orientation and other school related events<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>ACCESS will service the following schools<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Elementary<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miller,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snow<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Suicide Prevention Education will be provided to the high schools (<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dearborn, Edsel Ford and Fordson)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To educate parents on the signs and symptoms of substance abuse.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be able to discuss critical issues at home with their kids.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To minimize stigma regarding substance and provide the proper resources regarding addiction.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b>LAHC Substance Abuse Prevention Program\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Students<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To increase awareness through school-linked\/ evidence based strategies.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To educate youth about the consequences of substance use, risks, and protective factors associated with substance abuse behavior.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>To equip youth with the necessary skills to develop personal, interpersonal, and drug resistance skills.<\/li>\n<li>To break down perceived barriers and increase the willingness to seek help.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><b>Parents\/Community<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To provide bilingual and culturally sensitive family-based prevention programs to enhance parenting skills training, communication, and family rules regarding substance abuse.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>To increase access to mental health and substance abuse treatment resources while breaking the surrounding social stigma.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To collaborate and build effective partnerships with community partners to encourage prevention efforts in the community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>C-ASIST<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Community outreach organization stands for: Advocate, Support, Inspire, Service and Teach<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mission is to ASIST underserved communities with a focus on mental illness awareness, substance abuse &amp; addiction, and suicide prevention.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Students<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bridging the Gap Ending the Stigma Campaign (08\/2016): due to increase of mental illness, substance abuse\/addiction and suicide among youth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speak Up &amp; Reach Out Program &amp; QPRE Suicide Prevention Program (02\/2018) came to Dearborn Public Schools.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social workers, mental health counselors &amp; QPR-Certified instructors discuss youth mental illness, dangers of substance abuse\/addiction and awareness around suicide and preventions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sessions are conducted once a month to learn to recognize signs and symptoms of mental illness including depression and anxiety.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sessions discuss where\/how to seek help and treatment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sessions provide clarity on dangers of opioid addiction and substance abuse.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student assemblies, PTA and educator meetings held in high schools to discuss warning signs and prevention of suicide.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SAFE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Students<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To empower our students with the necessary knowledge and resources to make positive life decisions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To increase their understanding and awareness about the mental, physical, and social impacts of substance use<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0To engage our students in a manner that offers a platform for them to voice their concerns and make a difference<\/li>\n<li>To offer training on coalition building and legislative advocacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Parents\/Community<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To increase their involvement in the everyday lives of their children outside of the home<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0To educate them on the importance of understanding the social factors that impact their child decision making ability<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0To build and progress a platform for parents to use SAFE as a resource for their concerns<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0To reduce cultural\/religious stigma through education and real life experiences in regards to substance use and addiction related issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Positive Messaging &#8211; Classroom Instruction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The facilitators for each class session will discuss the following and provide the students with a certificate at the elementary and middle school level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Elementary Education Sessions \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>(20-30 minutes) 3<\/b><b>rd<\/b><b> -5<\/b><b>th<\/b><b> grade<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Increase Awareness (marijuana, prescriptions, alcohol) \u2013 visuals<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Discuss the effects of drugs on the brain &amp; body<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide concrete examples about how to walk away \u2013 verbiage to use<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suggest options for help \u2013 adults<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p
