Yes, he is just getting started, but is very determined to succeed! This is after just one week of taking the instrument home to practice. I look forward to seeing the distance this young man will go. 🤗

To help my McCullough students prepare for the December concert please follow these directions:
Saturday, I had the pleasure of hanging out (aka, having a great time while learning new strategies and ideas) with some of our Dearborn Music Teachers and 20 other music teachers from the Metro Area. We attended the Detroit Orff Schulwerk Association (DOSA) workshop, held at Madonna University, featuring clinician Pam Yanco. The focus of the workshop was strategies for teaching recorder lessons.

If you are one of my trombone students this year please send me a message through my “contact Mrs. Reed” and I will send you a link for some new music you can print from home and begin working on.

If you are ever in the building say hello to me as I travel between classrooms. I am ‘on a cart’ and pushing in to my afternoon music classes. I have attached a photo of my cart which is complete with a portable word wall and Penny the Penguin

Some students have not yet received books. Please take the time to study the parts of your instrument by using these linked images. I will test you on your knowledge when I see you next week.
Here is a great website for beginning band students to check out. This website has some wonderful instructional videos for getting started with playing an instrument. If I were a beginning in band you can bet I would be going to this website everyday. The videos are so much fun to play along with, too.

Yes, we are in the process of beginning out band and strings programs with the 5th grade students at Geer Park, Howe, Becker and McCullough. Students should be turning in their permission forms and Receipt and Bond forms for using a school instrument.
If you would like for your 5th grade child to participate in Band or Strings and they have not brought a form home for you to sign you may contact me and I will make sure you get one. I would love to have your child in the program this year.
