Today we did practice reading and math tests on the computer.\u00a0 We will be reviewing more in the coming days to prepare students for our testing days.\u00a0 Your support in making sure students are coming to school READY TO LEARN everyday is important.\u00a0 Please make sure they are getting proper sleep (which is harder as the weather is nicer but soooooo important!) Please see chart below about how much sleep your child should be getting each night.<\/p>\n

Attention Parents:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Last NWEA test of the year is scheduled:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Thursday, May 17th<\/sup> will be MATH at 9:00am<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Tuesday, May 22nd will be READING at 9:00am<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The NWEA test is a VERY important piece of data that helps us determine if your child is ready for 1st<\/sup> grade (along with other pieces of information, such as DRA, math checklists, various performance tasks, etc.)\u00a0\u00a0 It also allows us to see areas of strengths and weaknesses.\u00a0 This allows us to focus instruction and provide challenging lessons at their level.\u00a0 Since this is the last NWEA test of the year, we will also be using the information to come up with summer packets to help reinforce and retain what they have learned this year so they are ready to hit the ground running when we return to school in the fall.<\/strong><\/p>\n

***Please review the attached NWEA goals with your child<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

IN addition, we need you to send the same messages about NWEA at home that we send at school.\u00a0 They are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. This is a test to show what you<\/u> know- TRY YOUR BEST! <\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. RELAX AND TAKE YOUR TIME! Listen to the questions and answer choices as many times as you need to before you make your answer choice. (The test is read to kindergarten students and if they click the speaker it reads it to them. Once you hit \u201cnext\u201d you cannot go back.)<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Thanks for your help!\u00a0 We (teachers and parents) are a team and need to send the same messages to the children, especially about testing.\u00a0 Please also help prepare their brains and bodies by ensuring a good night sleep and healthy breakfast!<\/strong><\/p>\n
