Continue to work on writing first and last names on handwriting paper, \u00a0Please help students form letters correctly (they should START at the Dot).<\/p>\n<p>2. READING BAGS- like folders&#8211; these bags with be sent home EVERYDAY and need to be returned EVERYDAY. \u00a0In their reading bags, they have an ABC chart to practice their letters and sounds. \u00a0You can play lots of &#8220;games&#8221; with this chart beside pointing at the letters while singing the ABC song. \u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For example, try letters out of order<strong> (this is how they will be tested)<\/strong>&#8230; &#8220;where is the P.&#8221;<\/span> \u00a0&#8220;What starts with a P?&#8221; (pig) &#8220;Can you think of anything else that starts with a \/p\/ sound?&#8221; (pink, panda, etc.) We also practice our letters and sounds with this song today:\u00a0<span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JvPo7aEQMxg<\/span>. \u00a0If link does not work, go to YouTube and type in:\u00a0<span style=\"color: rgb(0, 128, 0);\"><strong>ABC Sound Clues with Who Let the Letters Out by Dr. Jean<\/strong>. \u00a0<\/span><span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I told them this song can even be played on most phones if they cannot do it on a computer. \u00a0They are VERY excited to show you this song and the &#8220;movements&#8221; we learned with it!!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Reminders:<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0<strong>Next week, there with be a PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE! \u00a0Each child is to register and send in $8 to join.<\/strong> \u00a0No volunteering needed. \u00a0Please support your PTA so we can buy much needed supplies for the children throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>2. Wednesday, September 10th is a LATE START. \u00a0School begins at 9:40am. \u00a0There will be a school store at 3:30.<\/p>\n<p>3. Friday, September 12th is the 1st &#8220;Principals Corner&#8221; Parent Meeting @ 8:50 am &amp; PTA News. ALL Parents are welcome to attend. \u00a0Please meet in cafeteria at 8:50am. \u00a0There will be a pizza sale at 3:30.<\/p>\n<p>***Please continue to send in water bottles for students to keep on their desk so they can stay hydrated throughout the day. \u00a0Please send in supplies if you have not done so already. \u00a0Students will start using HEADPHONES soon so please make sure to send those in so they have them in their reading basket for computer and ipad use.<\/p>\n<p>***<em>This weekend if you are grocery shopping, PLEASE buy a class snack to send in with your child.<\/em> \u00a0We have a morning and afternoon snack together in kindergarten. \u00a0This means all students are offered the class snack. \u00a0Some ideas of healthy snacks to send are Graham crackers, goldfish, animal crackers, pretzels, apple slices, string cheese, etc. \u00a0Please send enough for 30 students, so 2 boxes of crackers or 1 large bag of pretzels, etc. \u00a0Students can bring their own snack from home if they do not like what we are having, but ALL students will be offered group snack so ALL families are asked to bring a class snack at least once a month. \u00a0If you can send in a group snack twice a month, that will be help as we are having 2 snacks the first month or two of school. \u00a0(Later in the school year, morning snack will be eliminated as we have early lunch (11:30).<\/p>\n<p>THANKS for a great first week of school! have a fun, safe weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Monday! \u00a0**We will be asking next week that parents stay outside and do not enter the building so we can fully establish our morning routine. \u00a0Thanks in advance for your help with this.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle Rawson<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight&#8217;s Homework: 1.
