{"id":47,"date":"2013-09-13T07:39:26","date_gmt":"2013-09-13T11:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/rawsonm\/?p=47"},"modified":"2013-09-13T07:39:26","modified_gmt":"2013-09-13T11:39:26","slug":"2013-2014-school-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/rawsonm\/2013\/09\/13\/2013-2014-school-year\/","title":{"rendered":"2013-2014 School Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\">2013-2014 School Year<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<p>Welcome!\u00a0 My name is Mrs. Michelle Rawson and I will be your child&#8217;s Kindergarten teacher this year.\u00a0 I am looking forward to a very rewarding year for your child.\u00a0 This note includes information about our classroom procedures, so please keep it handy for easy reference throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BIRTHDAYS<\/p>\n<p>Students may celebrate their birthday here at school.\u00a0 If you send in a treat for your son\/daughter to share with their classmates, I will take it to the cafeteria and they can pass it out to their friends after they eat their lunch.\u00a0 If your child has a summer birthday, they can celebrate their half birthday by bringing in their treat 6 months before their next birthday.\u00a0 Large cakes are difficult to handle, so I ask that you do not send them in.\u00a0 Cupcakes, muffins, or other individual snacks are better choices.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SNACK<\/p>\n<p>Many children become hungry before lunch time, so we will have a SMALL snack each day around 10:00.\u00a0 If you would like for your child to eat a snack, please send in enough to share with around 30 children at the beginning of the month if it is something that will keep.\u00a0 If you want to send in fresh fruit or vegetables, send it in that day.\u00a0 Fruit, vegetables, crackers, pretzels and other non-sugary snacks are appropriate.\u00a0 Drinks are not necessary.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>HOMEWORK<\/p>\n<p>Please read with your child, or have an older sibling read with your child, 15 minutes each night.\u00a0 He\/she will be bringing home books at their independent reading level in a book bag every night.\u00a0 This bag needs to come back to school each day.\u00a0 Additionally, Reading and\/or Math practice sheets will come home throughout the week.\u00a0 This will be work they should be able to complete independently.\u00a0 Students will also be bringing home math bags, just like their Reading bags. \u00a0These will contain fun Math activities that reinforce what we are doing in class.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SUPPLIES<\/p>\n<p>Basic school supplies will be provided by the school.\u00a0 However, many students find it more convenient to bring in some additional items.\u00a0 The following items are supplies your child may wish to bring to school:<\/p>\n<p>Backpack (a must)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Box of Kleenex (a big help)<\/p>\n<p>Pencils\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Crayons<\/p>\n<p>Colored Pencils\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Glue Sticks<\/p>\n<p>Box of Ziplock Bags\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hand Sanitizer<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>CLASSROOM RULES<\/p>\n<p>In order to guarantee your child, and all the other students in my classroom, the educational climate they deserve, students may not interrupt my teaching, nor may they prevent any other student from learning.\u00a0 Therefore, here are the classroom rules and the behavior plan I use.<\/p>\n<p>Rules:<\/p>\n<p>1. Follow directions the first time they are given.<\/p>\n<p>2. Be prepared with materials each day.<\/p>\n<p>3. Raise your hand to speak and wait to be called upon, except during group work\/discussion.<\/p>\n<p>4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.<\/p>\n<p>5. Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated.<\/p>\n<p>Consequences:<\/p>\n<p>1. Warning.<\/p>\n<p>2. Green happy face turned to yellow. Lose 5 minutes of recess.<\/p>\n<p>3. Yellow happy face turned to red. Lose 5 minutes of recess and phone call home.<\/p>\n<p>4.
