{"id":12002,"date":"2021-05-17T08:48:35","date_gmt":"2021-05-17T12:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/rawsonm\/?p=12002"},"modified":"2021-05-17T08:48:38","modified_gmt":"2021-05-17T12:48:38","slug":"nwea-testing-starts-this-week-thursday-friday-we-will-take-nwea-mathmake-sure-to-read-this-important-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/rawsonm\/2021\/05\/17\/nwea-testing-starts-this-week-thursday-friday-we-will-take-nwea-mathmake-sure-to-read-this-important-post\/","title":{"rendered":"NWEA testing starts this week&#8211; Thursday\/Friday we will take NWEA Math!!**Make sure to READ this important post!**"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>Attention Parents:<\/u><\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u>The Last NWEA test of the year is scheduled:<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Thursday May 21 and Friday May 22 will be NWEA MATH<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Monday, May 24 and Tuesday, May 25 will be NWEA READING<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The NWEA test is a VERY important piece of data that helps us determine if your child is ready for 1<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;grade (along with other pieces of information, such as DRA, math checklists, various performance tasks, etc.)&nbsp;&nbsp; It also allows us to see areas of strengths and weaknesses.&nbsp; This allows us to focus instruction and provide challenging lessons at their level.&nbsp; Since this is the last NWEA test of the year, we will also be using the information to come up with summer packets to help reinforce and retain what they have learned this year so they are ready to hit the ground running when we return to school in the fall.&nbsp; This test may serve as another tool to determine if summer school is a good option for your child.&nbsp;&nbsp;<u>***Remember summer school is OPEN TO ALL!!!***<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IN addition, we need you to send the same messages about NWEA at home that we send at school.&nbsp; They are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li><strong>This is a test to show what&nbsp;<u>you<\/u>&nbsp;know- TRY YOUR BEST!&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>RELAX AND TAKE YOUR TIME! Listen to the questions and answer choices as many times as you need to before you make your answer choice.&nbsp; (The test is read to kindergarten students and if they click the speaker it reads it to them.&nbsp; Once you hit \u201cnext\u201d you cannot go back.)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thanks for your help!&nbsp; We (teachers and parents) are a team and need to send the same messages to the children, especially about testing.&nbsp; Please also help prepare their brains and bodies by ensuring a good night sleep and healthy breakfast!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We appreciate your help with this VERY important matter.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Let\u2019s Rock this Test Kindergarten!!!!!!<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sdk.bitmoji.com\/render\/panel\/19ac1a49-0a58-4d1a-b0d3-92906fa50286-0e7672a2-8937-498d-96af-3f480e25ff00-v1.png?transparent=1&amp;palette=1\" alt=\"we can do it\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Love,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mrs. Rawson &amp; Mrs. Fowler<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here are some reminders of how you can help your child be prepared for this important test!!!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Wednesday (tomorrow) we are doing MORE practice NWEA test questions on ZOOM\u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>please make sure your child is at a good learning spot for ZOOM\u2014 a table or sitting UP on the floor\u2014 no laying in bed or sitting on the couch!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>**We will do more practice in person in person, but they need to be getting ready to show what they know all by themselves and have stamina to be focused for this long computer test\u2014 about 50 questions. It usually takes about 45 minute to an hour to complete and we do some stretch breaks through out but&nbsp;<strong>being focused and trying their best is so important! Make sure to go on 10 minutes on math path, 10 minutes on reading path, and continue 10 minutes on reading eggs each day!! Set a timer and do a short break in between each 10 minute \u201csession\u201d!! Build up that stamina by doing 15 minutes on rainbow \u201ce\u201d math and 15 minutes on reading rainbow \u201ce\u201d EACH DAY\u2014 school days, at home days, even weekend days!! The kids really like this website!!! It is a great learning tool!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Thank you families for helping make sure your child is ready for these important tests to SHOW what you KNOW!!
