Rawr!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Supplies: Picture of a W, Picture of a Lion or Pirate (Linked below)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the simplest and funnest ways to practice vocalic \/R\/ at the sound level is to practice roaring like a lion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/el2.convertkit-mail.com\/c\/e5u8l5mzqi7h498nxf8\/gkunh5hkg25rzr\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuaG9tZS1zcGVlY2gtaG9tZS5jb20vc3VwcG9ydC1maWxlcy92b2NhbGljLXItYWN0aXZpdGllcy1oYW5kb3V0LnBkZg==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Print this picture of a lion<\/a>&nbsp;and set it on the table in front of the child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Write a large W on another piece of paper and place it next to the picture of the lion. (You could also draw an R on the picture with the lion.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, have the child discriminate your production of the vocalic \/R\/ sound. Alternate between accurate and inaccurate productions as you \u201croar\u201d and \u201crawr.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have the child point to the picture of the lion every time they hear the accurate \/R\/ sound vs. when you use the \/W\/ sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once they are stimulable for the sound, have them practice doing the \u201crawr\u201d like the lion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can do the same activity by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/el2.convertkit-mail.com\/c\/e5u8l5mzqi7h498nxf8\/98izhnhl48m020\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuaG9tZS1zcGVlY2gtaG9tZS5jb20vc3VwcG9ydC1maWxlcy92b2NhbGljLXItYWN0aXZpdGllcy1oYW5kb3V0LnBkZg==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">printing this picture of a pirate<\/a>&nbsp;and and practice saying \u201cArgh\u201d like a pirate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vocalic R can be a tricky sound to teach, but these activities can help! 1.
