Both these activities are from Scholastics and provide our young ones practice of short vowel sounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/teacher.scholastic.com\/clifford1\/flash\/vowels\/index.htm\">Make a Word: A Clifford Interactive Storybook<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With&nbsp;this activity, students create words by dragging missing vowels to them. Once they have created a word, a narrator sounds out the word, helping students practice identifying words with short-vowel sounds and sound spellings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Objectives<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>While participating in Make a Word, students will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Develop phonemic awareness skills<\/li><li>Distinguish easily confused letter pairs<\/li><li>Recognize common short and long vowel sound spellings<\/li><li>Interact with the computer to create new text<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/teacher.scholastic.com\/clifford1\/flash\/story_3.htm\">Here, Clifford!: An Interactive Storybook<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this activity, students choose a word (from three options) to complete a sentence and then listen to the page read aloud with the new sentence. The illustration also changes to reflect the new word and sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sample page:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Clifford runs to the beach.<br>\u201cHere, Clifford. I see you.<br>I see you behind the ______. \u201c<br>Students choose from: fence, net, tent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Objectives<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>While participating in the&nbsp;\u201cHere, Clifford!<strong>\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;activity, students will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Develop phonemic awareness skills<\/li><li>Read stories containing high-frequency words<\/li><li>Interact with the computer to create new text<\/li><li>Understand that changing one word in a sentence can change the meaning of the entire sentence<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I hope that you and your families enjoy these resources!
