{"id":245,"date":"2020-03-17T16:59:37","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T20:59:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/puchals\/?p=245"},"modified":"2020-03-17T16:59:38","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T20:59:38","slug":"digital-libraries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/puchals\/2020\/03\/17\/digital-libraries\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Libraries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I have listed below some websites that will help develop our students&#8217; love of reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.storylineonline.net\/\">Storyline Online<\/a><br><\/strong>Developed by The Screen Actors Guild Foundation, Storyline Online features accomplished actors and actresses reading some of their favorite children\u2019s books.&nbsp; Each story comes with a free Activity Guide and can be viewed on YouTube or SchoolTube.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Rainbow Fish<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Wilfrid Gordon Macdonald Partridge<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>To Be a Drum<\/em>&nbsp;are just a few of the books available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.childrenslibrary.org\/\">International Children\u2019s Digital Library<\/a><br><\/strong>Discover books from around the world at the International Children\u2019s Digital Library.&nbsp; The free site does not read the books aloud, but students can read them independently during Read to Self or free time.&nbsp; This is a great site for extension activities when learning about different regions of the world and can be used effectively into the middle school grades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.storyplace.org\/\">Story Place<\/a><br><\/strong>At Story Place, you\u2019ll find entertaining stories and early literacy activities, in formats compatible with desktop computers and with different mobile devices. As soon as you enter, you will see eye-catching colors and characters that your children will love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/freekidsbooks.org\/\">Free Kids Books<\/a><br><\/strong>This great portal with books sorted by categories for children of different ages.
