{"id":3326,"date":"2022-02-01T14:59:10","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T19:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/polstel\/?p=3326"},"modified":"2022-02-01T14:59:14","modified_gmt":"2022-02-01T19:59:14","slug":"so-many-reminders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/polstel\/2022\/02\/01\/so-many-reminders\/","title":{"rendered":"So Many Reminders&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Winter Reminders<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that cold and snowy weather is here, it\u2019s important for students to dress appropriately for the conditions. Students need to wear a winter jacket to school and also bring a hat and gloves. When snow is on the ground, students need to\u00a0<strong>bring boots<\/strong>\u00a0and snow pants. If the temperature is 20 degrees or warmer, students will still be going outside for recess. A copy of our\u00a0Winter Guidelines\u00a0for student dress is outlined below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Winter Guidelines for Outdoor Recess<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students go outside for recess two times a day, even during the winter months. We use the following guidelines to determine when it is safe for students to be outside. To make this determination, we use the \u201cfeels like\u201d temperature (wind chill) as reported by the National Weather Service. Please make sure your child is prepared with the necessary outerwear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TEMPERATURE GUIDELINES:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Below 20 degrees, we do not go outside<\/li><li>20 degrees or higher, we go outside<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clothing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the months of December through March, students should bring boots every day as there are many areas on the playground that can get quite snowy and\/or muddy. Labeling items with your child\u2019s first and last name can help us to return any lost items. We expect that students will wear the following winter gear when heading outside for recess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CLOTHING GUIDELINES:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>50-60 degrees: Long sleeves<\/li><li>40-50 degrees: Jacket or sweatshirt or coat<\/li><li>30-40 degrees: Winter jacket, hat and mittens\/gloves and covered legs (i.e tights, jeans, pants)<\/li><li>Below 30 and if snowy: Full set of snow gear to play in the snow (winter jacket, snow pants, hat, mittens, and boots)<\/li><li>December \u2013 March: Bring boots and shoes daily&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students who do not wear snow pants and boots will not be able to play in the snow.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students who do not bring boots will still go outdoors, but are expected to stay on the sidewalk.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for helping to make sure your student is prepared for the Michigan Winter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/polstel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/457\/2022\/02\/image-4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"154\" height=\"202\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/polstel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/457\/2022\/02\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3329\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Please share with your students that POPCORN DAY is this Friday!
