Monday, January 22<\/strong> – Turn in blue and red folders. Please do not forget to sign progress report in red folder.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, January 24<\/strong> – NWEA Math assessment in afternoon for Mrs. Polgar’s class. Make-ups for NWEA reading will be on Thursday, February 1.<\/p>\n

Thursday, January 25<\/strong> – Library check-in and check-out for books. We did not have library last week because we were testing in the computer lab.<\/p>\n

Friday, January 26<\/strong> – Half-day of school. Dismissal is at 11:45 am.<\/p>\n

This week we will start up reading groups and book bags will go home. I will be finishing up on math assessments and we will take the NWEA math test on Wednesday in the computer lab. Report cards will go out next week. I am happy to see how well my class has done on reading assessments. They are doing great and it is only the 2nd card marking!<\/p>\n

Peek at the Week:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sight words for the week – big\u00a0 little<\/strong><\/p>\n

Looking at words with “ch” beginnings and endings. For example; church, teach.<\/p>\n

Math<\/strong> – reviewing math concepts from CM1 and preparing for math assessments.<\/p>\n

Social Studies<\/strong> – finishing up on make-up tests. We enjoyed the student time-line projects. I love looking at their baby pictures!<\/p>\n

Science –<\/strong> If the weather permits we will do an experiment outside with the warming effects of the sun with our weather unit.<\/p>\n

Writing<\/strong> – We will start an informational unit on Arctic Animals.<\/p>\n

Reading – Daily Five –<\/strong> working on missing vowel sounds – medial sounds, “ch” digraphs, flipping vowel sounds in words – understanding what makes sense when we decode a word we do not know. Adding to and deleting letter sounds to make new words – for example; the word top\u00a0 – changing the letter t to the letter m, What word does it become? – mop.<\/p>\n
