Dates to Remember:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tuesday, October 14<\/strong> – PTO meeting at 6:30 PM followed by Parent Meeting at 7:00 PM.<\/p>\n

Friday, October 31<\/strong> – Halloween Classroom party. More information will be coming, as I will be meeting with homeroom mom’s this week to plan our party.<\/p>\n

Peek at the Week<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students will continue with NWEA testing in the computer lab. Students did quite well for taking a test on the computer for the first time. I am very proud of the class!<\/p>\n

Letters<\/strong> – Practice reviewing letters A-F\u00a0 New letter for week – Gg<\/p>\n

Sight words<\/strong> – Practice reviewing sight words – I, see, a, and, red, yellow, green.<\/p>\n

New sight word for week – like.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Math Workshop<\/strong> – Working with shapes, using directional words – below, next to, between, behind, in front of, around, over, under, inside, outside, above, beside, up, down, left, right, writing and recognizing numbers, counting numbers 1-30, counting by 5’s and\u00a0 studying patterns.<\/p>\n

Writer’s Workshop –<\/strong> This week opinion writing will be introduced and students will learn about the difference between fact and opinion. Students will state their opinion in their writing; I like . . .<\/p>\n

Science<\/strong> – We will finish up this week with our 5 Senses unit.<\/p>\n

Social Studies<\/strong> – We will finish up with our unit on How Do I Get along with Others? Ending with learning about fairness and voting.<\/p>\n

Language Arts – Daily Five<\/strong> – We will review Read to Someone and learn different ways we can read to someone. How to choose a partner and how to sit with a partner when reading a book. We continue to work on recognition of upper-case letters, lower-case letters, sounds and concepts of print to get us ready for reading text.<\/p>\n

Homework packet<\/strong> – This week we will talk about fire-safety in class.<\/p>\n
