Our class will take the End of Module 1 Math Test on Monday, October 14th. The test will cover the concepts taught in lessons 1-18. The students brought home page 1 for the review today. They will complete pages 2-3 tomorrow in class. They should review and practice the concepts on the review because it matches the test very well. In addition, all students need to be completed with lessons 1-18 on Zearn by Monday October 14th as well.
Our spelling test this week will consist of the names and location of the 12 states in the MidWest Region. The students will need to know how to spell each state (beginning with a capital letter) and be able to label the state on a blank MidWest Region map. We will be practicing in school but they will also need to practice at home.
We are starting spelling this week. The students will write their spelling words in their planner on Monday so they have them to practice at home. They will also complete classroom and online activities that require them to understand the definitions and to use them in sentences . They will take the spelling and vocabulary test on Friday of each week.
Welcome back to a new school year! I am looking forward to teaching this group of students and working with all of you. I know it will be a rewarding year for all of us.
* * * * * Things to Know * * * * *
Our school will continue using a school wide reward/behavior PBIS program The three rules are: Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Safe. The students will be monitoring their own behavior daily and recording it in their planner and on a monthly calendar. The calendar will go home at the end of each month for your child to share with you. The goal is to stay on green throughout the day. At the end of the day, students who stayed on green will receive a hole punch on their “Howard punch card”. They will have an opportunity to shop at the “Howard school store” with their cards. Please encourage your child to “Be The Best You Can Be.” We will be practicing these rules throughout the year. It is my goal to create a safe, secure and positive learning environment in which every child can develop socially, emotionally and academically. I look forward to working together as a team to make this a rewarding year for your child. If you have questions please feel free to contact me through your child’s daily planner or by e=mail: email@example.com
Folders and Planners
Your child has a “home folder” to use for homework and a daily planner to help keep track of assigned homework and for communication. It is their responsibility to share this folder and planner with you nightly and return them to school the following day. Please sign the planner daily after you have looked it over with your child.
Snack & Lunch
We will be having lunch at 12:35 this year. Your child should bring a healthy snack to eat in a.m. Due to food allergies we can only have the following items during snack time: fruit, vegetables and cheese. The students may also bring a water bottle to school if they choose.
Important Parent Connect Information
The Dearborn Public Schools has added a new feature to ParentConnect that allows parents to directly enter their child’s Emergency Information before the start of the school year instead of paper forms.
Please log onto ParentConnect from a computer. You will not be able to update your information on a cell phone or i-pad. If you don’t have your login information, click on the “Need Your Login Information?” text found on the Parent Connect page.
Once logged in click on the “Back to School Registration and Emergency Form Update,” found at the top of the page to the left of My Account. Please update the emergency information, which can be done by clicking Review/Update Info on the right. Once there, you’ll have the ability to update your information as well as your child’s information.
Please make sure to follow the directions at the top of each page. The “Back to School Registration and Emergency Form” Update will show until August 25, 2019; after that date, online re-enrollment will close, and paper emergency forms will be printed to parents who did not complete the information online.
Please look over your child’s planner and homework nightly. Have your child show you their color for behavior and responsibility for the day. If they had a color change they should have written the reason why in their planner.
