Children\u2019s attitudes toward schoolwork and behavior are related to the clothing that they wear. Therefore, we recommend clothing and footwear suitable for a working atmosphere and appropriate weather. In order to achieve this goal, the following guidelines are in place at Whitmore-Bolles Elementary<\/p>\n<p>Shoes<br \/>\nTennis shoes or sturdy, form-fitting shoes are recommended for the school day.<br \/>\nNo backless, open-toed, or high-heeled shoes are permitted. (Flip flops are not permitted; sandals with back straps can be worn.)<br \/>\nNo shoes with wheels (can be worn if wheels are removed.)<\/p>\n<p>Pants, shorts, skirts<br \/>\nPants and shorts need to fit snuggly at the waist.<br \/>\nSagging clothing is not acceptable.<br \/>\nExtremely brief shorts and short skirts are not appropriate for school.  Mid-thigh length or longer is appropriate.<br \/>\nShorts should not be worn from Nov 1 \u2013 March 31st unless approved by Teacher and Principal<\/p>\n<p>Shirts<br \/>\nShirts with sleeves are recommended.<br \/>\nHalter, tank, and thin-strapped tops less than 3 finger widths are not permitted.  Sleeveless athletic jerseys without a t-shirt underneath are not permitted.<\/p>\n<p>General<\/p>\n<p>Tops and bottoms must overlap at all times, including when arms are raised.<br \/>\nHats, caps, hoods, and other headwear may not be worn during the school day unless for school-sponsored activities.<br \/>\nJackets and coats (outerwear) may not be worn indoors during the school day unless approved by Teacher.<\/p>\n<p>The following items are inappropriate for school and therefore not permitted:<br \/>\n\u25cb Make-up, body glitter, and tattoos<br \/>\n\u25cb Visible body piercing other than in the ears<br \/>\n\u25cb Clothing that is in disrepair, ripped, or contains large holes.<br \/>\n\u25cbAny clothing that has words, terms, or pictures that may be offensive to others is unacceptable.<br \/>\n\u25cb Anything that may cause a distraction to the educational process or is deemed inappropriate or unsafe<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whitmore-Bolles Elementary School Dress Code The purpose of this dress code is to enhance school safety, improve the learning environment, and promote good behavior.
