{"id":2797,"date":"2016-12-23T18:11:36","date_gmt":"2016-12-23T18:11:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/philpor\/?p=2797"},"modified":"2016-12-23T18:11:36","modified_gmt":"2016-12-23T18:11:36","slug":"new-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/philpor\/2016\/12\/23\/new-year\/","title":{"rendered":"New Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday and take time to enjoy family and friends.<br \/>\nPlease continue to have your child read every day and practice their math facts&#8211;addition, subtraction, multiplication.<br \/>\nWhen we return in January we will be focusing on the following:<\/p>\n<p>Reading&#8211;(Both Grades) Fiction will be our area of focus, learning about character development and how stories can be written from different point of views.<br \/>\nWriting&#8211;(Both Grades) We will work on writing narratives. We will be using quotation marks and writing stories from different points of<br \/>\nview.<br \/>\nMath&#8211;(Both Grades) Our focus will be on telling time to the nearest 5 minutes.<br \/>\nSocial Studies&#8211; We are learning about the government.  Second grade is focusing on local and state government and third grade will be focusing on local, state and national government.<br \/>\nScience-Second Grade will be finishing up their Properties of Water Unit and third grade will be finishing up their Light and Sound Unit.<\/p>\n<p>When we return it will be a very short time before we begin NWEA testing again.<br \/>\nIf you can help with the Bathroom Renovations, don&#8217;t forget to sign up on SignUpGenius.
